Ottawa River - Arnprior
Ontario Canada

Back to Map Project List

Lake Description:

The Ottawa River at Arnprior offers a variety of fishing opportunities in one location.  This, however, is one body of water on which you will appreciate your fish finder or sonar as there are numerous deadheads, rocks and reefs.   The hazards are not well marked (at all) but if you exercise caution, it's the hazards that make the kind of structure that hold fish - big fish.

Species:
Everything you could want: muskie, pike, walleye and smallmouth.  Largemouth and channel cats are common.
Getting There:
From Ottawa take Hwy 17 west until you see the sign for Madawaska Blvd.  To get to the launch, follow the Blvd.  downtown, cross the bridge and take the next right.

The colours indicate where you are likely to find fish - or hit a big bejesus rock!

Visitor Tips:

"I was able to do a guide charter on the Ottawa last early fall. We trolled from the mouth of the river down stream along the dead heads on the south shore .  We then went to the top of the rapids by the railway tressle.  We trolled back along the south shore from the mouth of the bay to the mouth of the Madawaska. I hope this helps. P.S. we didn't do well but I've heard that the charter operator really knows his stuff."
