Fish-Hawk
and Bobber got some great largemouth in the most east
section of the lake (many people call it Little Gull Lake). We
got a giant at the mouth of North Creek - B5 on the map - black
Power worms and smoke Berkley Jerk Shads. Catch walleye by casting
or trolling perch pattern floating rapalas at dusk and in the dark
off the point at B6 - you'll see a chimney on the point. At
F4 there is an inlet with fallen spruce and stumps - get your largemouth
there. Powerworms
and jerk shads again. Pietor got piked a whack of times where B5
meets C5 - I think because the water was deeper and cooler there.

In box E6 just NW of Big
Boundary Island is an excellent spot to catch Walleye. I was there
last year and we were catching Walleye every night around sundown in
15 to 30 feet of water just straight off the island. In box D5 just
after you go through the narrows and to the right in the weeds in 10
feet of water we caught many LM Bass.

There is an island (rock) just off
Camp's Bay where you can catch some walleye. Jig plastic baits over
the rocks that are around the island (rock). There is also a long
bar that extends somewhat between the island (rock) and the cliff
which is to the left of Camp's Bay. Most of the bar is closer to
the cliff. Just drift bait or plastics over the bar until you find
some fish. Troll stick baits on the surface after dusk for some additional
walleyes. Before dusk cast poppers around the island (rock) for some
explosives smallmouth and pike action.

Two summers
ago I had great fishing on
Big Gull during the first two weeks of July. The narrows around
the local grid J-2 were very exceptional. We trolled floating worm
harnesses on 1/2 ounce bottom sinkers with 48 in. leaders. Best fishing
was between 7pm. and dark. Keep your eyes open for the submerged rocks
to either side of the narrows. |
