Buckhorn Lake (Kawartha Lakes, Trent Severn Canal),
Ontario Canada.

Back to Map Project List

Lake Description:
Buckhorn Lake is one of the Kawartha Lakes and also part of the Trent Severn Canal System that extends from the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, a distance of 386 kms (as the fish swims).  I know there are smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye (pickeral), and muskie in this lake.  Send me an email to tell me where to look for the fish based on the grid I have placed over the lake.
Getting There:

Summer Dream Tours have done such a wonderful job of explaining how to get to Buckhorn Lake from anywhere on the planet that I'll just make a link right to them. But don't forget to come back to this page by clicking that BACK button.

If anyone can provide explicit directions for where to launch, that would be much appreciated.

The colours indicate where you are likely to find fish - or hit something with a name that will sink your boat.

Visitor Tips:

Steve Reimer says "A spot that you might want to add to your Upper Buckhorn map is the back of Sandy Creek Bay ( F3 and F4 on the grid) for Largemouth bass.  This spot offers lots of fast fish, and a number of good sized muskies in fall."

Jack Van Buuren says "Upper Buckhorn - there is no good public launch. Use the public ramp - no fee - at the Causeway that crosses Chemong Lake and boat into Buckhorn from there. There are lots of resorts around Buckhorn Lake from which you can launch (fees apply)"

Don H. says there is a good launch at Scotsman Point Resort and also says that K4 on the map is a gd area to troll or cast along island shorelines.

Grace G. says Harrington Bay which is the first bay on the south shore coming out of the narrows is a great
largemouth hang out. Also of note is the area out from emerald isle. This current area holds muskie and walleye.

Mark and another Guest have pointed out G5 as a great muskie spot with largemouth as well. Mark said "G5 has always been a very productive area for me. I've never seen this area marked on any fishing map as a muskie location. There are clearly lots of skies to be found here. I usually fish the weed flats near the channel. Casting is your only chance here because it does get weedy."

Jack, by the way, is the www.adventurefishingmaps.on.ca  guy.
