Re: Bait cast reels
Like Ed said, once you get into it there's no turning back. I got back into fishing bout 7 years ago and bought my first baitcaster the following year. I now have 9 and only 2 spinning. Its a whole new experience. I fish from the bank and at times i'm stuck among tall grass, overhead tree branches, ...

Re: best knot for skirted jigs
when i need a knot with the tag facing the lure i use a clinch knot ( not the improved clinch). I often use Knot 2 Kinky or +30lbs fluoro leaders cos of pesky pikes and that knot never failed me on those stiffer lines...not sure about lighter lines

Re: First solid spring outing
Nice mixed bag, never fished under that bridge even though i pass on it every morning on my way to work. Another good spot for a mixed bag is under the metal bridge on the 9th between Plantagenet and St-Isidore...there's even some kind of a boat ramp. This morning i was under the two 417 bridges in ...

Re: 13 Fishing Rods
I bought a Omen Black MH 7'1'' last winter and it was my main pitching rod for the whole summer. I fish from the bank, i had it paired with a Daiwa Tatula CT and 50# braid and was pitching and casting in thickest of weeds and lily pads. Caught some descent size pikes with it and had no issues,anythi...

Re: lure color
Kevin to add some xtra color or to make your own color you can use a product like J.J.Magic dipping dye on your soft plastics. Bottles comes in 4 colors (chartreuse, red, methylate and blue) and a clear one and the garlic scent in them is strong..and i mean strong...dont bring this stuff in the house ...

Whopper Plopper
I know i'm kind of early to ask this kind of question but i already started doing my shopping for this summer. The Whopper Plopper, is it as good as some say it is for bass/pike? They're not cheap,so i would appreciate a bit of feedback before investing on a few different sizes.

Re: Pike cut offs
Thanks guys....i bought through BPS a pack of Knot 2 Kinky nickel-titanium leader wire 18lbs. Diameter is .010",not stiff at all, you can tie a 3 wrap clinch knot to a hook and a albright to the braid main line. Not cheap, bout $15 for 15ft of it, i make 10" leaders. Caught a few descent p...

Pike cut offs
I have a question for the experienced anglers here. My fave fishing spot is mostly grassy an swampy. I mostly texas rigged a creature to a flippin hook with a pegged tungsten weight to 30# braid. Problem is this year there are more pikes than bass in that spot so i get cut off a lot. My question is ...

Rideau River water level in Ottawa
Went this morning to try go fishing on the Rideau from Carleton U side...dang couldn't believe the water level, higher than a month ago, and the current ridiculous. Had nowhere to stand on, so ended up going to Brewer Park on Bronson...not a bite in over 2 hrs, which didn't really surprise me...star...
