Re: Black rapids fishing?
Always a decent enough shore fishing spot and I'm sure the bass are biting normally by now. Not my favourite shore spot just because you are pretty much confined to the dock or the rock outcropping if the water is low and there tend to be people in those spots. But as good a chance as anywhere with ...

Re: Looking to Shorefish near Ottawa
Lazy bay on ottawa looked fishable this AM when i passed. No trees and water is placid. Have to be catfish there.
The rideau is fine everywhere. I caught some nice pike there recently. Look at a map and go to the end of some rapids.

Re: Catfish and High Water
Haven't fished for them or ever caught them in rideau but the water level is normal. I can't imagine there are as many catfish as the Ottawa as I've caught plenty there by accident.

Re: no crappies yet
I wasn't targeting them, but I caught about 4 crappie yesterday in Seeleys Bay area. Same lures as last week/places when I caught zero. Biting on large lures (for a crappie) in shallow. Lots of weeds down there.

Re: Last Minute Ice Hut Rental - Outfitter cancelled last mi
Hi thanks for the posts and sorry for catching up late. The outfitter (Irish Creek) stated that there was a lot of wind on the lake that covered his ice road and made it impossible for him to access the shack. Said it wasn't his fault and he couldn't help the weather. This makes no sense to me as he...

Last Minute Ice Hut Rental - Outfitter cancelled last minute
Hi all, Not sure what else to do. I had a nice weekend on an overnight ice hut rented with Irish Creek Outfitters and he literally just cancelled less than 24 hours beforehand. I have convinced 4 mostly non-fisherman to do this, they've bought licenses, booked time off work, we have all our food bou...

Commercial Fishing on Ottawa River?
Hi all, I noticed at the Landsdowne Farmer's Market yesterday that there is a booth selling smoked crappie, catfish and bullhead, among other things. I asked where they got the fish and they said the Ottawa River. I'm just curious what the rules are for commercial fishing from the Ottawa? I had no i...

Re: Pike Lake in Quebec
Thanks a lot to Smitty and Zippy, as you said Smitty it seems like 31 Mile and that area hold larger pike, even in some smaller bodies of water. Think I'll make a last foray this weekend, still figuring out the particulars. I'll report back if I go. Thanks for the info Zip. I've been fishing in area...

Re: Pike Lake in Quebec
I've been catching a ton in the Ottawa but nothing over 5 lbs and hoping to go somewhere with at least the potential of a 10 lber or so. I don't see anyone catching bigger pike in Ontario an hour or two from ottawa in Ontario, hence the Quebec reference. The St Lawrence I'm just not sure where is ap...

Pike Lake in Quebec
[*]
I'm in Ottawa and catching a lot of average to small pike. They don't seem to get too big around here. Hour or two north I know they can get huge.
Don't need anyone's secret spot, just a general idea. I fish oit of a kayak so ideally no huge bodies of water. Thanks in advance!

Only place right now at deschenes is at the foot of the rapids. Wade out to the rock and cast on edge/in the rapids. Everywhere else with shore access seems way too shallow to me.

Boat Rental Near Ottawa/Kemptville
Anyone have any ideas? Can't tow so needs to be on the lake I'd be fishing. Can't seem to find anything that makes sense. Looking to get out one more time before winter rolls in. Thx!

Re: Newish to Fishing - Some help please
That's the correct model and thanks for the advice. Staying off the frogs and anything heavy for now, but having a great time fishing for bass. If anyone in Kingston-Ottawa region wants $50 and can stand another guy in their boat, shoot me a PM. I've got time on my hands and trying to learn.

Re: Newish to Fishing - Some help please
Thanks for the tip, I think I'll stick to my rods limitations foe the time being, but I'll try to get down to Winchester next year if I want to fish heavier weeds etc. Looks like an awesome store. Fishing shows and whatnot always say what they are doing, but don't say DON'T fish lillies with a huge ...
