It would be better to replace the engine oil in the fall before you store the boat. The combustion process creates acids that are in the oil. Leaving the motor oil in place can have a negative effect on the internal engine parts. It's one less thing to have to get done in the spring also...Larry

Are you sure it is lower unit? It could just be some exhaust gas fluid leaking out after usage. If your motor was tilted down it can leak out.
