Hey Wig, I remember the thread but not the name of it. If I recall the thread did not start out that way. It was a thread started by the lad on the Quebec side who fished a lot of bass in a particular bay over there. That prompted an invite and then a subsequent discussion on licenses. Sorry I can't...

New Reel: The Sequel

Steve G Beware Steve G for Ed Puddephatt has mystical powers. I awoke this AM to the haunting call over the wind saying BUY A ROD. With this I was drawn into his clutches and yes I bought a rod......It was more power than I could fight. Do I regret it....Not a chance!!! Come on Bass Season!!! Steve ...

Thanks for the feedback Steve, I really appreciate it. Again we must be thinking along the same lines of fishing equipment as I am looking to put the Symetre on a G Loomis Frontier. At least I know I am looking in the right direction. Thanks again and take care.

Cheers

Thanks Steve H., glad to hear a positive answer as this reel will have to last me a long time. It is a front drag as that's what I'm used to. What exactly is a Gl3. I do 95% casting for Bass. Would this be a suitable rod and how much do they run.

Cheers

Steve-Hamilton

The line specs for the 2500 are 6/200yds, 8/140yds and 10/120yds. Hope this helps. Other than the line capacity have you been happy with your Symetre's? Apparently the shallow spool allows you to cast further. I guess you give up one thing for another.

Steve I'm particularly excited because I haven't bought a new system in about 15 years. The difference in weight and performance compared to my old system is going to be a blast. It is an old Diawa and Shakespeare combo. I'm hoping to hook up a Loomis Frontier with the new reel. Anyway here's to spr...

New Reel

Dang it, I knew it would happen. One too many visits to Paddltales and I bought a new Shimano Symetre 2500. I'll have to hold off on the rod just for now. All I know is there are only 140 days till bass season and I can't wait to make this puppy howl. Steve G and Cracker, sorry I missed you guys las...

Hey FFF, not sure but I think if you want the 2 front panels where the insignia is to stay stiff, you might be better to hand wash with liquid laundry soap, then hang to dry. I know that's what my son does with all his hats. Take care and catch you later.

Hi Mike, I don't know how old you are but apparently this can happen to guys approaching middle age (cough). I went through this myself. The music with no words is a good idea. Also think about consciously relaxing each part of your body one part at a time. Start with your feet and work up. This tak...

WIG, funny you should post this thread cause I was just thinking the other day about where Dave H disapeared to. Figured may it was because he was just a soft water fisherman and not much to say about ice fishing. Anyway Dave (knock, knock) are you out there? Hope eveything is alright.

Warning E-Mail Fraud

Just a reminder guys and gals be aware of fraud because it's out there. I just recieved an e-mail from a so called financial institution telling me it was obligatory to confirm certain info as they are upgrading software. I went to the appointed web site and they wanted to know my debit card number ...

Kemptville Area Rideau River Shacks

Gid'ay ladies and gents. I trust everyone had a good New Years. For those interested, the first shack in the Fairmile-Kemtville Creek area showed up yesterday. I know there was one set up on the creek up by 43 about a week ago but the first main channel one in that area showed up yesterday. So good ...

RJ glad to hear you are not flooding out. You may want to consider having a back up pump just in case. You can also get battery back up in case of a power failure. Also depending on where the float is set it may or may not shut off. Anyway take care guy and have a good Christmas.
