Oops, my bad. You mean this point?
I'm pretty sure that's private property (the crown land atlas says it's private). I think there's a house there too.
The campsite I posted would only be accessible by watercraft.

Re: Joes Lake Campsite
If it's the campsite I'm thinking of, it is crown land (or was crown land). It is first come first served as far as I'm aware. There is private property there as well that just sold recently. I was on the lake two weeks ago and they were doing lots of chainsawing back there and looks like they're wo...

Re: Crappie
I'd think it's early still. I'm planning to get out on Sunday, I'll post my results. Look forward to I didn't end up having much time today. I got out to one of the locks along the Rideau, there was already a group fishing right at the lock and they were catching crappies. I didn't want to encroach...

Hard to say, some lakes are ice free and others are still 80% ice. I did some exploring yesterday, but didn't check out Silver. Based on what I saw I'd guess that Silver is ice free now, it's further south than the lakes I had stopped at. For reference Palmerston Lake was pretty much free of ice. pa...

Ice Fishing for Stocked Trout
With walleye season coming to an end (zone 18), it's time to get out for stocked trout before the ice is gone. I had some comp time saved up, and with the long range forecast looking awful, I decided to take yesterday off to go fishing with my "fishing partner" (aka my dog). fishing_partne...

Hey Jim, the new hat looks good. Any plans for decals? I'd buy one for my truck.

Re: Mississippi lake 2024 ice fishing & conditions?
Spent all day yesterday on Mississippi to cap off the Zone 18 ice season for walleye. Accessed at Father Point again and tried a number of spots where I've had success in the past. Getting around was easy with ice cleats and I walked over 5km total on the lake. Fishing was slow, I caught a handful o...

Nice fish Dustin! Looks like the bite is heating up! I'm planning to get out there Thursday and/or Friday after work, hopefully it won't be too sloppy with the warm weather and rain...

Re: Charleston Lake
Based on the time of year, I was going to guess it is to help protect the bass populations. Looks like the new regulations are there to allow them to research the affects of preseason bass fishing and fishing for nesting bass. Charleston Lake and Opinicon Lake both have new regulations for the 2024 ...

Wow, what an awesome day on the water! I guess there is an upside to these warm temps if you have the means to get out on the big water. The calm winds the past two weekends have also been welcome on the hard water

Charly's is hands down my favourite place for bait. When time permits I'll go out of my way to buy bait from him in Rockland, otherwise I'll take the backroads when heading out west and grab bait in Manotick. From page 19 of the 2024 Fishing Regulations: Anglers using or possessing baitfish or leech...

North Frontenac Report
Got out yesterday on a lake that I had success on this past summer and wanted to see how it was for ice fishing. The weather was excellent (+2, overcast, and no wind). The ice conditions at the launch were not great, with the very soft ice at the shoreline I ended up with two soakers right off the b...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2024 Ice season
I was surprised, there wasn't any slush on Sunday. There were some deeper snow drifts followed by sections of bare ice due to the high wind gusts.

Re: Shirley's Bay 2024 Ice season
I was out the today from 4:00 to 6:30. Didn't get out as far as I would have liked. Was around 350m from the launch. PXL_20240114_220645734.jpg There was about 5.5" of good clear ice out there. PXL_20240114_211637360.jpg Didn't have much action. I caught a few perch and one 12" walleye. PX...
