Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
There are a few people out, but crazy windy- can’t even see off the launch with the snow. There may be some slush under the snow, but no standing water anywhere.. Thanks for the update. As long as the winds are not too terrible. I will be heading out to Shirleys Bay Sunday afternoon... first time i...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
I was going to check it out this morning but haven’t had the time…. Been lurking waiting for someone to post up as well! I will probably head over around noon or so to see how the ice is looking..

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Hoping the conditions aren’t too bad- old man is coming into town and we’re planning on doing an overnighter on Shirley’s today/tomorrow. Anyone ever do an overnight/have any luck late late there? Latest I’ve ever fished there would be around 8pm.. Got pretty cold and windy last night. Did you end ...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
After a few slow days this past week- finally pushed out a bit farther than most people were set up yesterday.. was sitting in 11.5 ft. Prett non-stop walleye action. Most dinks- 10-13” long. With one probably topping 15”. Still tons of fun. Almost where on the map you guys have been talking about f...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Knew I should have gone out yesterday!!
I’ve only ever pulled out dirty Burbs between 10-14” there. Must have been a great fight!! Nicely done

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Not a problem! If you stick to more or less where most of the shacks are set up should be pretty uniform. Have seen one truck on the ice about a week and a half ago, probably lots more out there now!

Re: Long Island Locks
I do agree, it’s way over fished for the size. However I’ve still caught good size pike and muskey there. I have seen maybe 1 or 2 walleye over the last 3-4 years however.

Re: Ice fishing testing
I have an aqua vu and it came with a tripod. You can def. DYI one but I’d highly suggest that- makes it a ton easier to set up! As for drills. I’ve had an Eskimo pistol bit going into season 3. First year I had the Milwaukee 2803 Hammer drill. Blew through ice like a dream. Mid season last year the ...

Re: Long Island Locks
Was my go to spot up until last year. I’ve seen people parked down there even with all the signage still this year. What I did last year was park on top of the hill near the dumpsters then walk down. Super inconvenient but still accessible.

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Took the ATV out early afternoon for the first time this year. Was about 100 yards or so offshore- In line sort of where the perm. hut is set up. Was on 10.5” of ice. Clear black too. Marked a lot of small perch and had a few bites. Only got out for an hour and a half, but was still nice!

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
You’re right Smitty! Haha. Ended up getting ahold of Serge and got my minnows. Got out on the bay this afternoon. I got skunked, but my buddy got a few walleye. Decent 13”-14”. Was sitting in about 10.5 ft of water an 7” of ice. Two guys had their ATVs out.. Still a bit soon for me to bring out but ...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
My go to for minnows is Serge- close to Sherleys near Bayshore. I live around the corner from him so super convenient, but good price and good guy. I haven’t seen his truck in awhile so I’m hoping he just got rid of it and didn’t move or anything however! Will be picking some up today and can report...
