Re: Rideau River

That stretch of the Rideau requires weedless lures or patience while taking weeds off hooks every cast. Also patience helps with all the recreational boaters. But the fish are there. I still use tube jigs for walleye on the rideau with success and if you are out in the evening a troll along the chan...

Re: Another season in the books.

Just got a chance to go over the post. Great season for sure. We had a great hunting season last year and gearing up again for this upcoming one. Finally enjoying some BBQ'd venison too.

Re: Boat Insurance

Generally you get what you pay for. You will want to confirm if your policy is Agreed Value or Actual Value payout on total loss of your boat. If you want cheaper premiums and will be satisfied getting paid a fraction of what you're boat is worth if it's totalled, then go Actual Value. Otherwise pay...

Re: Birdees first Bruin!

Fantastic.
Had lots of bears checking out the molasses flavour deer licks this year. May get a bear tag and put some time in next year. Nothing like trail cam pictures to give you the kick to get in the woods.

Re: Splake on ice

Nice.
Just need the finished eating plate (nomnom) photo for the tri-fecta.
Never got a splake on the ice...while jigging do they hit on the drop or the up-sweep?

Note to Mods... This post is more fitting now for the 'feature report':-) ;-)

Re: Food Plot TLC

How are things now?
I set up 4 mineral stumps this year. 2 maintained from last year and 2 new from August. Will be checking the cams after Thanksgiving. Anyone ever dust a stump with koolaid. Heard it works but seems funny.

Not sure if they would have the answer, but they may be a good resource to check.

Re: Splake report

Nice. I have float tubed a few lakes in that region with little success. Except for being able to be in a piece of wilderness heaven.

Re: Who's ready for deer season?!

No doe tags for us this year either. Hope to get in the woods this weekend and freshen up a couple of mineral piles. Need to find a way to get the bucks out during the day. Last year all but one buck on the trail cams were between 12 and 3 in the morning. Any suggestions?

Re: Who's ready for deer season?!

I am always ready....
But could always use more preparation. Where I hunt I have had as much success where I stop to eat a sandwich in the woods as where I have cleared, salted and scouted... But I am always ready to spend some time in the woods, and maybe an afternoon at the range first.

Awesome.
Always an enjoyable read. Feel free to share pictures of shore lunches, fish prep (if any are kept), and preferred whiskeys... Inquiring minds want to know...:-)
