Re: Arming for the Musky hunt
Don't forget leaders, casting, trolling and jerkbait. Huskie Muskie leaders are available at Bits & Baits, Paddle Tails and Sports Action.. If you are attending the Carp Show I will be working the Pro Tackle booth and can discuss your leaderrequirements. Pro Tackle also has one of the best selec...

I make fluoro leaders for muskies and fluoro will work well for pike as well. Make sure that you are using leader material and not line. There is a real difference. The fluoro leader material is a lot more abrasion resistant than the line. If you are not fishing trophy waters then you can go lighter...

Out on the Lower Ottawa yesterday and got a nice fat 45 incher. The bait is really starting to ball up nicely and seem to be relating 20 to 40 feet of water, suspended about 15 to 20 feet down near much deeper water. Found some bait fish as deep at 40 feet. Tried an area last week which held bait fi...

Bait Dealer's License
Hi Carmine. Sandy Arcand, at the MNR, can help with the bait dealer licence. She can be reached at 613-258-8203. You should be aware that harvesting and selling bait require separate licenses. By purchasing a dealer license you can’t automatically harvest, and vice versa. Hope this helps. Bill

Line Strength
Yes, 80 to 100 lb line does sound heavy but it is the same diameter as 20 lb mono. We use the heavier line so we can fight the fish and get it into the net quickly to reduce the lactic acid build up. This is especially important when water temperatures are high in the summer. Too much lactic acid ca...

Fluorocarbon leaders
For Trolling Thunder.
Bits and Baits in Stittsville has 3 foot 150 lb Fluorocarbon leaders for trolling. I have never heard of one failing and they are used by quite a few muskie addicts in the area.
