Re: Newbie introduction

Welcome aboard. As a returning fisherman with an interest in walleye fishing, you may be interested in joining ORWL (Ottawa Region Walleye League) - check out our web site orwl.ca. Re: Got a question? Let's hear it!

With reference to snap weights & crank baits, I was advised a few years ago by a BOQ guide that the best and easiest rule of thumb was that 1 - a 1 oz snap weight would increase the crank bait dive curve by 1/3. 2 - a 2 oz snap weight would increase the crank bait dive curve by 2/3, & 3 - a ...

Re: Laurentian Marine Sales???

I've been dealing with them for 2 years and I can't say enough about their service, knowledge, or my Princecraft. Their showroom and shop is nothing much to look at, but they make up for it with their service. Most of their staff have been there long term so they know their stuff inside and out and...

Re: Salmon Charter Recommendations

I have no hesitation in recommending Scott Walcott of http://www.bayofquintecharters.com for either Fall walleye fishing on BOQ or Summer salmon fishing out of Wellington Ont. If you are also looking for accommodation, he also owns West Lake Willows resort on West Lake and the Picton Harbour Inn at ...

Re: 2016 Fishing Goals??

A great thread RJ. I'm a little different from most of the bass fisher's on this site, but I grew up chasing walleye's on the Lower Detroit River/Lake Erie and I continue to spend my retirement years chasing my name sake - I can't help myself - just a character flaw, I guess - LOL. I'm still looking...

Re: trolling advice

I'm a walleye nut, and would not be without my 9.9 kicker. My hour meters tell me that I average between 30-40 hours per season on my 140 hp, and 80-100 hours per season on my 9.9hp - easy to see which motor is getting the most wear, and the 9.9 can't be beat for gas mileage. I consider my 9.9 kicke...

Re: Kicker and Electric used together

Good to know Erie Thx. Do you follow a stored route or just use the autopilot mode. Also if following a route can you still manually adj the speed? You need the i-pilot to record & follow routes. Mine is the old auto pilot - manually set and adjust headings, and manually adjust speeds as requir...

Re: Kicker and Electric used together

I use my auto pilot all the time with my kicker as I like to troll lot. Kicker is used to power the boat, auto pilot on a low setting (varies depending on wind/current) controls direction. Works very well for me, particularly if I'm fishing alone.

Re: Bert's rod holders and tracks - where?

I also have Cannon's and have been extremely happy with them. I believe the Cannon tracks are very similar to Bert's and holders may work in either track. I bought Cannon because they were available locally, although if I remember correctly one of the vendors at the Carp fishing show carried the Ber...

Interesting that the fine was larger for lying than for fishing without a license.

I also have a 140Hp Johnson 4st (Suzuki) on my boat and a 9.9 Hp 4st kicker as well as a bow mounted Min-Kota. I troll a lot, and would not be without my 9.9 - put over twice as many hours on it last year as the big motor. The 9.9 was a great investment - I can troll as slow as I want, easy on fuel,...

I have been doing business with Laurentian for over 10 years, and have never had a complaint - totally trust them to look after my ride, and have never been disappointed. I suspect that may be why you don't hear a lot about them - seems the "bad apples" are the ones that get all the "...

A few years ago I saw a bulletin against using Shell in Chrysler products, but I think they have since corrected the problem.

While I normally use Sunoco whenever I have a choice, and have always been happy with it, I will use what ever is available when gage says I need to fill up.
