Bark Lake
We fished Bark Lake one weekend last fall and pretty much all I have to show for it is a new skeg and prop. Actually to be fair that happened at the top of the lake in the Madawaska River but we did not catch a lot of fish. Bark Lake also came up in a conversation with one of the guys in my bass clu...

Kayak transport and storage
Auto racks is always a good choice, you'll get the setup that fits your vehicle. I've always been a canoe guy but securing the ends is more about wobble than it is actually securing the boat. With the straps that Trailhead or any other kayak retailer sell, there is always somewhere to secure the hoo...

What's wrong with this picture.
Ha! you are taking the picture and not holding the fish. Otherwise we'd be looking at 5's not 4's.

Upper Rideau
I fish mostly Big and Lower Rideau but I have also fished Newboro which is part of the Rideau system. Water levels have been low but only an issue because that combined with a very warm summer and high water temps, fish are harder to find. Hopefully by September the waters will cool and fish will re...

Launches
I don't know the launch Almontefisher mentioned but pay the $7 at the town launch, it's worth the peace of mind to know no one is messing with your ride. I have no problem paying a few bucks for a well maintained and safe launch but I get PO'd when I'm getting gouged. Fished the Miss yesterday, boat...

Why I love fishing
For the opportunity to match wits with a creature with a teeny tiny little brain and still come away smiling when I lose. Maybe not quite as much as when I win but still smillin'.
I don't know if my blood pressure really drops when I fish but it sure feels like it does.

Madawaska river
The upper Madawaska is on the edge of Algonquin Park and there are several outfitters on Hwy 60. Have a look at Shall Lake, entry point #17 I think, near the village of Madawaska. There are lots of options for a 2 or 3 day paddle in that area and decent fishing as well. The Mad was incredibly low in...

American Eels
I saw a guy catch one, about the size in the picture, on the Ottawa near the hydro wires in Cumberland last year.
And yes, they are a protected spieces.

Newboro
I was on Newboro yesterday and it was an exercise in why it's called fishing and not catching. There are some big fish being caught but the fish are off their normal patterns due to the high water temps. I can only imagine what advice Dropshot'r might have given you but the name is your first clue. ...

Charleston
Thanks Jim, that will be a big help. A buddy of mine gave me a bunch of maps and Charleston was supposed to be one of them but it's missing. I'll have to have him fedex it up from Kingston. We fished Charleston on Monday but it was more about areas not to bother with than it was hotspots but we did ...

Ontario Map Project - Charleston Lake
The map of Charleston would appear to have no indication of where the fish can be found. Basically it is a low definition overview of the lake. Was there never any fishing detail for this lake or is it somehow missing in action? There definately are fish there, I've caught some of them but I'm greed...

Custom Rod Builder
Send a PM to "Mikemicropterus" he did a rod building talk at one of our bass club meetings.
I don't have one of his rods (I have 9 right now) but he looks to be using quality components and sounds like he knows his stuff.

Algonquin Virgin
It's already been said but don't underestimate Opeongo if the wind starts to come up. As much as possible stick to the shore lines, you don't want to get caught in the middle of the lake if it starts to blow. If you are planning to procede into the park from Opeongo you might want to consider the wa...

Our own extreme angler
I just caught the last few minutes and saw Bobber catch that 1.5lber with 5 lbs of salad.
Looked like Karl was catching the big fish but nonetheless it must have been a great day on the water.

Clearer line = more fish?
I think in a perfect world it probably does but there are lots of variables. I was rigging my gear for bass season and used an article from Bass Master magazine as my guide. I didn't do it so much based on the visibility factor as I did on how the various lures and baits reacted on the different typ...
