Do fish finders lie?

No but they speak in half truths. I have two Lowrance finders, neither of them high end. I have a 510 on the console and an X67C on the front with a puck transducer on the trolling motor. I know the transducers are 16' apart but they never seem to show the same information. I mean what shows up on t...

Bass Opener

I liked the comparison of waiting for the opener being harder than waiting for Christmas morning. The time leading up to the opener is no less expensive than Christmas either. If I can't fish for them then I'm going to shop for things to catch them with. If you want to fish the spawn or pre-spawn bu...

Big Rideau

I'm down to the Big Rideau for the first 5 days of bass season. I'll be camped at Murphys Point Provincial Park. There is a good ramp in the park. It can be a busy place with lots of large boat traffic since it's part of the Rideau Canal system but as others have said it's a big lake and lots of fis...

We were on the BOQ last weekend and while it was still low I thought there was some pretty good imprpovement since the opener at at the start of May.

Opener

I have to admit, the Ottawa on friday has been calling to me.

Heck I can't get into my camp site until 2:00 so if I organize all the camping gear in advance I could fish until noon on Friday then load up for Murphy's Point.

Buying local

I know this thing could get very redundent but none of the praised for Ed surprises me in the least. Great selection (and if he doesn't have it, he can probably get it), competitive pricing and maybe most importantly excellent customer service. Like Hookup I could blame Ed for costing me hundreds or...

Bass Opener

| have a camp site booked at Murphy's Point and will spend the first 5 days of bass season checking out some of my favourite spots. It's the first time I've been there for opener but with all the warm weather I figure they'll be into summer pattterns by then anyway. Bring it on, 22 days and counting.

Nemio

Have a good one Dan, hope that new to you boat survives the gravel road.

Ronnie says he put $30,000 into his road so hopefully he smoothed it out a bit.

I'll look forward to your report.

Adjusting a throttle cable

I have a 2005 50 hp 4 stroke Honda outboard with the requisite Honda control cables. I seem to have a dead spot in my throttle. As I power up it's fine at lower revs but as I get to the mid range I have a slack point where I don't get any additional power and then it picks up again. As a result I ca...

X 67 transducer

Lebarons can order it in for you. So can Laurentian Marine but their prices seemed high to me. Probably about $66 at Lebaron vs $90 something at Laurentian for the transom version. I've been doing the same search but for a trolling motor transducer. When I got a new finder I put my X67c on the bow b...

Rokland launch

I agree that the single use fee is ridiculous but it seems to me they are simply trying to push people into seasons passes and at $126 it's really not a bad deal. Petrie is $220 and then you have to deal with the opening and closing times. I have waited outside the gate for the ramp to open and I ha...

Handheld GPS

I have a Lowrance H2Oc with a navionics Canada Lakes chip mounted beside my finder. It works pretty good with the exception that I have difficulty maintaining external power. I just make sure I have batteries on board. With Navionics, not all lakes are created equal in terms of detail but then how a...

I have some pictures of the Madawaska around hghway 60 but never bothered to learn how to post them.

I don't have time to figure it out right now but if you PM me with an email address I'b be happy to share them with you.
