Licence renewal

I did mine on line as well and it was as easy as could be once the site was available. I must have checked 20 times only to get some version of a "the site is temporariily unavailable" message.

hand held gps

I have a Lowrance I Finder H2OC and my only knock is that the external power doesn't stay connected very well. Other then that it has been a reliable companion in my boat for about 3 years now. It runs Navionics just fine.

Ordering from the states

I get most of my stuff from Cabelas and you know exactly what all your charges are when you place your order. I do believe they use the US mail for their deliveries unless you opt for something different and even then you still know your total cost. The one other charge you run into is a 2.5% add on...

Bass Talk 2011

From the numbers of guys coming back for a second round you might think we are slow learners but the fact is there is just too much information to absorb in one session and the topics vary from year to year. I hope to be back again this year but it may be a last minute thing as the end of March is a...

Monster Musky

No doubt a very nice fish but everyone seems to be forgetting about Dale McNairs 57" 33" fish from a couple of years ago that was probably a world record. Fortunately he chose to release it rather than kill it for the record. You would think that the Musky fraternity on the Larry would be ...

Quinte ice

We were out on the weekend and the water temps were in the 37 degree range so they are definately getting down but it has been so windy that the ice can't form.

Oh well first you salt the ramps then the hard water follows.

rod and reel combo

Ed you need to postphone one week, either that or someone needs to explain to my wife why I'm not going away with her this weekend. Just to be clear, it's family obligations. Maybe I could convince her to stop on the way out of town on Thursday but then again maybe not, I don't need her to know abou...

X 67 Ice

I have an X67 on the bow of my boat now that I have a larger finder on the console, its a nice little finder. If you are going to mount it on your trolling motor I recommend the puck tranducer. I initially used the transome transducer that came with it and snapped it off on a dock or the bottom. I d...

Mississippi

Where did you lads launch from , I'm assuming the docks are gone from the town launch. I'm thinking maybe Monday or Tuesday, one last hurrah before the boat goes away. Besides, this fishing season started in April with the Orillia Perch Festival so I absolutely have to get the boat on the water in N...

Seely's Bay

Hey John, as mentioned the launch is free and there is a small parking lot directly across from the launch with room for 6 or 7 cars/trailers. You will probably pass the other parking area on the way into the launch, it's only about a 100 yards up the road. Go up to Jones Falls and ignore the sanctu...

Scugog

I was there at the end of July and we launched out of Scugog Island Marina. It's a shallow lake and maybe the only lake I fished this summer where the fish were where I thought they should be. No deep cold water spots for the fish to hide on this lake. Anyhow I was throwing wacky worms in a black/br...

Yozuri Hybrid Bass Tournament line

Try Bait Casters in Carelton Place. I got some about a month ago and they didn't have a lot. I wanted 10 and ended up with 12lb test. It's the only place I've seen it. I like it a lot. I asked about it at Manotick Bait and she couldn't even find it in her book but said she would order some if I brou...

Modifying a boat for tournaments

Another potential issue in modifying your boat is liability insurance. Most series require you to carry as much as a million in liability insurance. Can you get insurance for a boat you modify yourself? It might be an issue if you are fishing with a partner as well. Have you considered fishing tourn...

Lake Madawaska, aka the Head Pond

It's a great body of water and just about the closest thing to the man made reservoirs in states. There is some deep water and there is some shallow water very close to that deep water. The small island on the way to the bridge is a very large shoal. Also if you run up towards the dam near Hwy 17 ma...

Bark Lake

You know I actually wondered about that (the different lake thing) and did a quick google search but nothing jumped out at me. It was the thing about the reception in the Oak Centre, sounded a little to ritzy for the area I was talking about. Logically Bob is not going to take a contest winner somew...
