Re: Asian Carp are here !

"Both the fish are being identified as grass carp, which belong to the Asian carp family."

New York State stocks sterile triploids for weed control. Every now and then one crosses the border. One was caught at Hoople a few years ago. It's not a big deal.

I work in healthcare and deal with adjusters, adjudicators, and various other titles in the insurance hierarchy on an almost daily basis. SOME are genuinely looking out for their clients' interests. Unfortunately, they a...

Re: Leeks

They're delicious fried or in a soup. You can get chanterelles at Loblaws sometimes, but farmed shrooms do not taste anywhere near as good.
Do get yourself a good field guide if you plan on getting into wild mushrooms. Mistakes can have bad consequences.

Re: Fish Gripper - Any Goo?

Are you referring to this thing?
http://www.thefishgrip.net/

If so, it's a great tool. I like that it has wide, flat gripping surfaces that don't tear up the fish's jaw (unlike boga style grippers)..
Also nice that it floats.
