CCB,
Happy anniversary... and what a monster fish. I look forward to reading the complete epic. I guess your wife is used to you coming home smelling a little fishy.

hybrid
Hi...interesting.
Well, having only a very few pike among many muskies is one of several ecological situations that are likely to result in mis-matings and hybrids.
Very pretty fish, no matter who its parents were.

Re: happens
Hmmmm...that would be a guess Graembo. Such events may have natural or unnatural causes. That's why all fish die-offs should be investigated.Graembo wrote:

[disclaimer - the following is largely speculative] I haven't heard confirmation of the muskellunge die-off beyond the Thousand Islands. There is much we don't know about this unprecedented mortality event. Given the very limited science associated with wild fish health generally, and muskies in par...

Joe, Good looking little fish. I believe it's a perfectly normal young-of-the-year northern pike. The white bars will break up into spots as the fish matures. A more certain ID would require a mandibular pore count (<5 for pike) and a check of the extent of cheek scalation. Thanks for sharing. Here'...

Very interesting point QO. Where would you rather fish? Values, mores and ethics can certainly change when you cross a border. Even further south...in Bolivia, I observed signs on all of the x-country busses asking passengers to please discard all of their garbage out the window (rather than leave a...

Re: Thank you Fish Hawk, Bobber ect.
Maybe it is because fish are our fulltime business ( I know about me and Michael but not sure about CCB ) that we seem to care just a little more then the next guy. Thank you for running such a great site. Yikes Richard...I think we all REALLY like fishing. I don't agree that you (or I) care a litt...
