Taking The Plunge

Picked up my first fly outfit this afternoon, a 4 pc, 9 ft 8 wt setup that I plan to use initially for LM bass and pike. I've never touched a fly outfit before and my wife is suddenly very worried about her well-being in the back of the boat. Should make for some interesting outings..... :shock:

I look for areas that are about 20' deep and have a decent amount of current. If you are in Arnprior, try the area where the Ottawa and Madawaska come together. When I put Power Pro/Fireline on a reel, I fill the first half of the spool with with old'ish mono and add the Power Pro/Fireline on top of that. Double the spools for the same $.

Get a couple of the Reliant 40L round blue water jugs. When full they weigh about 40kg. Fill them up when you launch, place them in the boat where required and dump them out when you are done for the day. Beats moving batteries and cement blocks around.
