My 2015 In The Ottawa Valley
There was no ice fishing season for me as I spent most of the winter out West trying to help my Mom win her battle with cancer. We didn't win..... I returned home in late March and decided to go ahead with my trip to Guntersville, AL to be a marshal in the B.A.S.S Elite Series event, something I had...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy
Just FYI, there seems to be two tournaments on Muskrat in September. OVSB will be there September 5th and there will be a fall tournament from another bassmaster group the following weekend. The one on Sept 12 is a "big fish every hour" tournament hosted by Valley Bass. Boats are not allo...

Re: MS Bassin 2015
Well we did get 5 fish and met half our goal..... :D But with a whopping 8.30 lbs we fell somewhat short of the 10 lb target..... This section of the Rideau R will never be on any list of places I'd choose to go for a fun fish but it's good to fish unfamiliar waters and try to figure things o...

If it was a 6 lb largemouth, I'd go big bait without a doubt but for smallies I agree with what BobbyJordan sez.....

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy
So have you watched the shootout series guys release their fish? I have fished 2 shootout events this season and I have watched. At Mississippi what I saw was people releasing their fish for the most part in the river before the bridge. And at Muskrat I saw most fish released on the large flat near...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy
BTW, to those who say/said that Muskrat was a dying lake in terms of big bass - the winning team had over 21 pounds of largies, anchored by a high-5# class fish. And, the average fish was over 3# that day! Exactly. Many of those large bags in the past came from places like Mud Lake or the Snake Riv...

Re: Oh Joy Oh Joy
I think the BAA tournament was Aug 1 according to their web site. Last week is still a mystery to me. :?: Last Sat on Muskrat was Valley Bass, a closed club that has been operation up here in the Ottawa Valley for over 20 years. There were only 23 boats. As an FYI , all Muskrat Lake tournament part...

Re: MS Bassin 2015
I missed last year due to a scheduling conflict but fished the first two MS Bassin's and will be there again this year. Our goal is modest - weigh in 5 fish and get over 9.99 lbs total. Not sure if we'll accomplish that or not given we never fish the waters outside of MS Bassin' but we'll have fun s...

Re: Great Feedback from Ottawa Sportsman Show!
That wheel was invented many moons ago and it could very well already be in the platform that hosts F-H. Probably requires a bunch of storage to host all the pics and I'll leave that up to RJ and Luke to decide.CN wrote:Doug,

Re: Great Feedback from Ottawa Sportsman Show!
My biggest beef about F-H over the years has been about posting pics. I don't want to use Photobucket or some other pic hosting service. Uploading to the Gallery and pasting URLs into a post is a PIA. A simple "insert pic here" button that lets one select a file off the 'puter or provide a...

Re: Fish-Hawk Get-Together Tuesday November 18th at 7pm
I was certainly worth the drive in to meet some of the new faces and say hi again to lots of the old ones.
I echo Ed's suggestion about getting a place that has a party room to make it easier to mingle. Wild Wing on Meadowlands and PoW has a good sized room.

Re: Fishing the back of the boat
In a 20'+ boat, it should be fine but it's a little big in a smaller boat. When I'm fishing in someone else's boat, I either use a small size BPS Yellow Boat Bag (18" x 10" x 10") or one of those green grocery totes (21" x 13" x 9"). I also bring only 3 rods, 4 rods if ...
