Allow me to add detail and controversy to Bobber's six pounder. I'll leave out the part about Bobber having to ask twice for the net and get to the part where Bobber is inspecting the bass / pig. A fish that big - you have to look into its gob - it's just such an enormous vacuum. And there to our su...

Beautiful bunch of bass, guys. Impressive sizes and good action: can't ask for more than that! (I'm going to remember your tip on being extra patient , FH. I'm not well acquainted with that term, myself, but will work on it with the soft plastics.) W. Patience is good Wolfe. I find it helps with ji...

Bassin with Bobber on the Rideau

Bobber and I have struggled since the opening of bass season to get out fishing in the same boat at the same time. I picked Bobber up on Sunday morning at 08:30 and for the first time in a couple of years (for me anyway) we went bassing on the Rideau River. It was cool and grey with a light breeze a...

The secret to getting a five pounder... keep fishing and fishing and fishing in waters that produce them that big and odds are you will get one. To put things in perspective, I have fished many a tournament that is loaded with 100 great anglers. At the end of the day when the fish are being weighed,...

Nice looking bass Bobber. Looks like Mike got out fished once again  I guess it's important to have a good net man right Bobber?? As Bobber would say... it's about quality, not quantity. As it happens, Bobber kicked my butt in both departments that morning. The previous Thursday evenin...

Outing at Rockland...

I took the boat to work with me yesterday so I could go on my annual outing to the Ottawa River at Rockland. I brought a new buddy of mine, David, along for the ride. David is learning to fish. Spinning reels are more his speed at this point, so I set him up with a large old spinning reel with 30 lb...

Fishin Clayton with RJ last night

It's pretty hard to catch up to me these days to get out for a fish. My time is not my own anymore. But RJ lucked in Wednesday night when I logged into my laptop and MSN opened up. I hadn't even thought of fishing Thursday evening but all of a sudden it did look very possible. I got the green light ...

It sure is a great tournament. I like the way the way you can drive yourself crazy with second guessing yourself as the day goes on. We always try to catch the pickerel bite in the morning. But when do we start to look for pike? By 9:30 we had a 3.4 lb eye and another that I guess was about 1.5 lbs....

Finally - our first victory! I had to leave early to take care of some family obligations. While preparing to drive a bunch of seniors to my daughters' ballet at Centre Point, Bobber called. We had won! The afterglow of victory lasted a long time. For the rest of that Saturday evening I was staring ...

Old tip from a crazy Texan

Hi everyone, I got this email from Dusty Adkins, requesting that I post this tip. Its about a technique of plastic worm fishing he calls "Whacky worm". At first I thought I wasn't going to be reading anything new, but I was wrong. This is not the "Whacky Rigging" that any hardcor...
