Hi Superdad :
That walleye in the first post was huge. My biggest walleye so far was maybe 4 lbs. and it could have been eaten as a nice light snack by yours

advice needed on ice jigging and Marcum technique
Hi Everyone : I am fairly new to the ice fishing game, so I apologize in advance if my comments seem retarded :-) Last year, I had the most success catching walleye by using a Lindy Techni-glo frostee jig(charteuse, vertical) tipped with a medium sized minnow. I would charge the jig with a very powe...

ice thickness - timing predictions for Perth area ?
Hi Everyone : I realize that the weather over the past couple of days has erased some ice thickness, but what I can say is that lakes in the Perth area had measured 1.5 inches in thickness late last week. Last year, ice fishing began early because of the cold weather in November. I'm looking for som...

Thanks to all of you for your good advice. I'm no truck expert and someone had told me (before I made this posting) that if the cables break, then the gate goes to the ground and the ATV goes down with it and then I take a permanent dirt nap. But, now I know a dirt nap is not possible, but a mangled...

I have a sub-zero ice fishing tent which is the same size (or larger) than your shelter. I believe that you would need an 8000 BTU heater at a minimum - from my experience. I have an infrared propane heater attached to my propane tank. This year, I decided to buy a dual infrared propane heater from ...

I've seen those hooks which screw into the top horizontal face of the walls of the box. With tie wraps tied to those hooks at the front of the box and at the sides(and tied at the other ends to the ATV), in my opinion there is no way that an ATV could fall out of the box. I guess I will be using the...

loading an ATV onto an F-150
Hi Everyone : I have sturdy steel ramps to load my ATV on my F-150. The problem is that I am worried about the truck gate - those gate cables could snap and I could find myself taking a dirt nap permanently as a result. I could take the gate off permanently and get some sort of mesh that I've seen o...

fish finder to use for ice fishing
Hi Everyone :
Has anyone used a fish finder (large sensing cone) in an ice hole ?
Is a flasher the best and only tool to use ?
What make and model is the best bang for the buck ?

lake ice - Pike Lake, Crosby Lake
Hi :
I want to get the boat in one more time to do some fishing, but I'm a little worried that the recent temperatures may have created an ice layer near shore which would inhibit a boat launch. Does anyone know what the conditions are like in Pike Lake and Crosby Lake (near Perth, Ontario).

walleye fishing Perth area
Hi Everyone : The walleye fishing seems to be quite slow this spring. I have been out every week for the past 3 weeks and we have caught much less walleye than last spring. I realize that the factors could be abundance of bait fish, too many overcast days(rain), and a bad winter. We have been trolli...

I just heard that for popular lakes, such as Christie(Perth), the police are out there on a regular basis. I heard that they weren't really checking for pleasurecraft licenses, but they were looking for drinking alcohol while boating. I don't fish the Perth area any more because the walleye are fish...
