Re: 22.5 Pound Ottawa River Pike

Nice Fish, looks like a familiar spot. I was not able to get any big ones out of there this year. Nothing over 8lbs, glad to see someone was catching some big ones in there.

Coordless drill/auger info

Gents,

Looking to see if anyone has info/experience using a drill with the auger attachment for ice fishing.
Is a hammer drill required or just a regular one ? From what I can see online you need 18V or more?

Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers

Another good weekend catching gators

I had another good weekend catching some Ottawa river gators. Saturday started off pretty slow, hit the water at 0900 and was into my 1st bay where I caught some big ones last weekend. Water temp was in the high 50's and fishing was really slow, I did not see any fish at all until working my way out...

Re: Great opener for pike on the Ottawa

Awesome Pike!!! Good job! I was fishing heavy traffic Ottawa area and all I managed was one tolerable fish. A LOT of follows without much serious interest. Quick hint: I love the Booyah spinnerbaits but after a disaster last year where I lost what was probably a PB Smallmouth, I have since successf...

Great opener for pike on the Ottawa

The opener for pike is a big thing for me, in between ice out and the bass opener it's a day I look forward to each year up here in Petawawa. Went out on the Ottawa river Friday with a good friend from work and fished a few back bays. 5 fow was the deepest water in the bays but all the fish were cau...

Re: What would you like to see?

RJ,

I think a quick link to an "Open seat" type forum would be a good idea.
Nothing better then going out with different folk and learning new techniques.

Re: Lake Dore ( Closed )

The info in the article and the precautions to take come from the MNR and the RCDHU.
Just Saying

Regardless, I just wanted to know where it says the lake is closed. I cannot find that information on any of the mentioned sites.

Re: Crankbaits

I throw Cranks all the time. I dont really have any that outshine the others this year, but in general square bills have been doing better for me. With fall coming I think that will change and I will have to use my deep diving cranks more.

Re: Lake Dore ( Closed )

I read the article in the Pembroke Observer and nowhere does it say that the lake is closed. It states the precautions to take if a bloom is present and what to parts of the fish to avoid eating. Lake is Open, if anything there might be a bit less bat traffic.
