Re: Who makes the best side scan sonar?

I second the Garmin units, love my new one, have had both humminbird and Lowrance recently and the Garmin outclasses them in both ease of use (UI) and display. The bonus for me is the Autochart, you can record the areas you fish without buying a "special" card. My lake has no mapping for i...

Re: Transducer placement on a minn kota fortrex

I've seen a lot of aftermarket brackets online that would probably work, a quick search on Amazon or eBay brings them up. Can't vouch for them one way or the other but they look pretty slick!

Re: New Garmin Force Trolling Motor

Would love one of those, but that price point.... hard for the average angler to justify it. Same with all the major manufacturers higher end models. The tech in those motors is just unbelievable though.

Re: Lakemaster or Navionics

Just picked up the Garmin echomap 75sv on the weekend, has the lakemaster charts in it, looking forward to comparing it to my navionics charts that I have for my Lowrance which gets moved from the dash to the bow. Can't wait to get the boat out of winter 'boat jail' in a few weeks. This will be my f...

Re: Lakemaster or Navionics

Hello fallow anglers, I am looking to upgrade my fish finder for a Humminbird Helix, likely series 7 SI G3. The question I have is whether to go with the Lakemaster or Navionics maps. Looking at other people's posts and videos, the opinions are split. Given that I am mainly fishing locally around O...

Re: Lakemaster or Navionics

Hey folks, Does anybody out there have any information on the Navionics app available for Android? Is it worth the money? Is it the Navionics Boating HD Marine and Lakes app I should be looking at? Any information is appreciated. Thanks. I've found it fairly accurate for the price but far from comp...

Re: Boat brands Crestliner vs Smokercraft

I bought a Crestliner Vision 1700 with a 115 Merc. 4 stroke, new in 2015, fantastic boat and motor.
You won't regret your choice, had one small warranty issue with the boat which the dealer had fixed in less than a week. Excellent dealer customer service!

Lol absolutely Not! Did it once but won't be doing it again! Feel free to ask away though, if I can help out I will. Had a buddy who just did his boat the previous year and he was a great help. Just paying it forward!

Re: Info on refinishing floors/casting decks

Are you planning on replacing the flooring as well or just the carpeting? You will need to remove the flooring to install carpet or vinyl properly. The reason I ask is that carpeting is a good deal thicker than vinyl, so you will need to take this into account along the edges of the deck. There will...

Re: Info on refinishing floors/casting decks

I did my old boat a few years ago with all vinyl. I went with vinyl as it's much easier to keep clean, won't fade as much or as quickly as carpet will, it will also protect the wood flooring for a lot longer than carpeting, so you shouldn't have the extra expense of ordering marine grade plywood to ...

Thanks, the materials they used are so incredibly durable, bought up all I could find a few years ago and I'm running low!

Re: Choosing the right trolling motor

You can never be overpowered with an electric trolling motor! That 55# needs to run at a higher speed, drawing more juice from your battery (causing it to drain your battery that much quicker) to do the same work as the 80# Also, a 24V system will last quite a bit longer out on the water compared to...

Re: Sonarchart live on Lowrance

As much as this tech interests me, I'm not a big fan of giving away my map data that I create and then paying for a subscription to have it back. Yes I realize that there are thousands of other lakes included for that price, 99.9% of which I will never ever be within a thousand kms let alone be able...
