Casting tips...
A good quality (light) rod and 8ft long helps. Two handed casts. I'm right handed so my right hand goes above the reel on the rod, and my left hand goes under the reel on the rod. It's almost like swinging a bat. As i swing forward, i actually pull back on my lower(left) hand and use my right hand a...

12 or 14 ft...
I have a 14.5 ft Legend and am hesitant about taking it out on the Ottawa. Last Saturday was a good example(14th Aug). Started out nice enough but by the afternoon the wind was honkin' out of the SW. I was in a 19 ft boat trolling on the north side of the river opposite Arnprior and the waves hittin...

Back on the Rideau...
OK all you gurus...I was on the Rideau again early on Tuesday morning (July 20th), 50 ft from shore in 4-5 ft of water. I was attracted there as there was a LOT of splashing happening on the surface. For 50 yds in either direction, and all around me were these huge splashing fish. Couldn't tell what...

RJ and AF...I guess my real concern was that they are destroying the valuable natural habitat of the fish. Is this a valid concern?

WOW...
CG...no, they were all adults towing kids. And they were a good 100 ft inside the bouy....didn't slow down or anything. I was waiting for a huge BANG, but they made it through and kept on going! I was really surprised at the number of boats that did the same thing.

WOW ON THE RIDEAU...
i was hangin round the green bouy just west of 416 brdg, when all these tube and wakeboard boats go screaming thru (heading east) 3.5ft of water on the S side of the green bouy Coming from the west, you have to bear left (port) as you approach the bridge. If you're fast and south, you're goin thru t...

upping the motor size..
Doug...my boat is a 14 ft tinny with a 15HP 4 stroke. I looked into upping the size...best I could do at the time was trading my 07-15hp for an 07-25hp 4 stroke EFI elec start. They wanted $1900 difference. Then I would need another battery, and some heavy duty wiring to hook it all up. ....a little...

trimtabs vs hydrofoil
Andy...why trim tabs over hydrofoil?? Just curious. I bought a set of NAUTICUS trim tabs (SMART TABS) to cure my porpoising problem, but when I realised I had to drill a dozen holes in my transom to mount them I put them back in the box. It also appears that they might be tricky to adjust for correc...
