If all you want to do is figure out the depth, a cheap humminbird will be fine. I have two of them on my boat and they do work, but I don't trust them as 'fishfinders'.

I have an open spot tomorrow..... short notice I know.

Leaving Ottawa tomorrow no later than 5am for a morning laker jig. It will probably be wet.

I too have started keeping a log this year. Only in excel though. Keep track of locations, presentations, and general success. I don't record the weather.... I can always look that up later if I want to. Like Luke I thought of making something (I'm a programmer also) but one thing I've found is that...
