Hey bowzog, you got it right with shoals, humps, and structure. I'm a rookie anglers who's tried lakers thru the ice only a couple times, and the following is what I found worked so far. The best tried and tested set-up is a splitshot, hook, and minnow. Depending on the size of the lakers in your la...

Hey x-T, you might want to go to Vex's site to read how their flasher works, versus a regular fishfinder. The flasher definitely has it's advantages, especially during hardwater season. It's more like real time, where you can watch as a fish sniffs out your lure/bait, and watching it hit it. Now, wh...

I love it, very warm, and IMHO, a floatsuit is worth every penny.
I've worn it for ice fishing, for BOQ, and it has held up. The only thing is that it is not 100% waterproof. After a day out in the rain, it will be damp around some areas.

Happy Holidays all,

Good choice Karack, I guess you got the NFS1000? I got the same suit too, and IMHO, a good bang for the bucks.

I agreed with Rohn, I've frequent/lurked on this board quite often...if only I lived closer to Ottawa. I was up in the capital for a week the past year, and the fellas here were more than happy to give me some tips on some impromptu shore fishing spots. Keep up the great posts hawkers! I think next ...

Nippissing's got my vote

Hey Markus, This has been the first year that I've been to Nippissing, once for ice fishing back in Feb, and again this past May 24 week. Ice fishing was a tad slow, but we got near our limits on the 2 days we were there. The spring trip was a totally different story, we caught our limits each day w...

Ottawa area people are so lucky!

Thank-you again to everyone that posted the spots to fish in Ottawa.
I fished around spots by Carlton U and at the Manotick Mill today. It sure is nice to have so many spots to try in your city, you people are so lucky!
Hopefully next time I'll get to meet and fish with some of you.

thanks,

X67c adn titelok

Hey Fisher, I got the Ice Machine version of the X67C and I have to say it's worked very well on the ice, esp. with the flasher option. I still haven't tried it out on the softwater yet, as I was debating what type of transducer to get for it. I was geared toward the portable suction cup ones, but a...

Tahnk-you

Gee, thanks to everyone! You guys are a very helpful group. I was surprise to get so many replies already. From the sounds of it, I'm good to go with a rod and some tackle, I'll bring a long handle net as prescribed, but will not be keeping any of my catch...I'm sure the hotel would not appreciate t...
