Sharbot Lake

Hi folks, I’m going to be fishing Sharbot Lake for the first time next week and I’m wondering if anyone would care to offer any suggestions that might give an idea where to start. Generally targeting bass/pike/walleye. How is the lake for navigation? Are hazards clearly marked? Best place to launch ...

Boat Launch On Wolfe Lake

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the boat launch for Wolfe Lake on Concession Road 10 is suitable for a 20 foot bass boat?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Cheers!

Re: Parking fees at White Lake boat launch

Regarding the season pass: What constitutes local vs non-local? Are you local if you have an Ontario driving license or do you have to live in the immediate area?

Cheers!

Re: Clayton / Taylor Bass

Actually, it's possible it could be a case of too much catch and release. Not harvesting enough medium sized fish from a body of water can be harmful in the long run. Young adult fish are more aggressive than larger fish and are therefore more competitive and aggressive when it comes to feeding. The...

Bayview Lodge on White Lake rents canoes. Nice area to paddle around in, good swimming, fishing, etc.

Mississippi Lake Report

Hi all! Been a while since I've posted, thought I'd get involved again with a short report, sans photos... Was on Mississippi Lake for Zone 18 opener, targeting pike. Found them in bays in water shallow enough to have a slight weed growth and in the general vicinity of the river mouth in the south e...

Re: Do you EAT Bass? Just curious...

I'm usually catch and release, but every once in a while I or someone in my family has a craving for a little fish feed. Nothing wrong with satisfying that order with a couple bass, especially smallmouth as they have a nicer taste than largies, in my opinion.

Re: Why the big secret?

I personally have no problem with sharing spots and detailed info on tips to catch them. I think it's important that we promote the sport of fishing, especially to our youth, and part of the fun of the whole sport is sharing techniques and success with other people who enjoy fishing. I get a thrill ...

Congratulations on your first pike. Pike are a blast to catch and are excellent eating. They get a bad rap because of the bones.

I'll cull a few when I'm in the mood for a feed. Which species depends on what type of feed I'm in the mood for. :)

Had the rod buzz and line arching into the air thing happen in the middle of Lake Erie once. Lightning came and all you could do was put down your rods and curl up in the bottom of the boat to ride it out. That sucked. :?

New York and Ontario do not have a reciprocal license agreement. If you are fishing in New York waters, you need a New York license or risk getting fined.

Hi Mariner, Welcome to the Ottawa area. The fishing opportunities in this area are endless. If you have access to a vehicle then that opens up a lot of area within an hour of the city. For example, Mississippi Lake in Carleton Place has several campgrounds/resorts that rent boats and the lake is exc...

Another thing to consider...what colour would you use under different conditions? For example, what colour would you use in stained water vs. clear water, or on clear days vs. overcast days? I'm fairly novice to jig fishing specifically but I've heard darker colours, such as black/blue, in darker co...
