Saving the best for last
November generally means easy walleye jigging on the Ottawa River. It's the only time that jigging is allowed on the Princecraft. Jigging drive me nuts! The action was steady all November with lots of dink to keeper size walleye keeping us busy between heftier fish. http://i1180.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: 2017 Ice Bungalow Rentals
No, it really couldn't get much worse than winter 2016. Bookings are coming in nicely, I just need Mother Nature to co-operate just a little and it's looking like a busy 2017 season.

2017 Ice Bungalow Rentals
Hello FH, Once again this year we will be renting ice bungalows on the Ottawa River out of Rockland. In spite of the lack of winter last year, we were able to get solid ice and kept our huts out until March 13th. Fishing for walleye and pike was steady all winter. As always our overnight huts are al...

Re: Newbie introduction
The Ottawa River east of Ottawa is world class for musky and has a very healthy walleye population. You should have great days in your own backyard. If not, give me a call.

The Usual and the Opposite
2016 has been the most consistent year for walleye fishing for ORGF. Except for a few days post-monsoon when the walleye were very scattered, a handful of waypoints are all we've needed to put together solid days and it seems like every day we're getting a shot at bigger walleye and the oddball spec...

Re: Nipissing Lake
I was at my in-law's cottage a stone's throw from West Arm Lodge a couple weeks back. Lots of walleye (even some legal ones) on the troll and lots of smallies around the docks, had one big pike or musky hanging out around a dock but the I never bothered to target Esox since the walleye fishing was s...

Re: Laurentian Marine Sales???
I've been dealing with them for 2 years and I can't say enough about their service, knowledge, or my Princecraft. Their showroom and shop is nothing much to look at, but they make up for it with their service. Most of their staff have been there long term so they know their stuff inside and out and ...

Re: Musky vs. Sheephead and a big walleye
Hi Rod, I've caught sheephead up to 10lbs or so on the River. Earlier in my guiding career we would get 1 or 2 a week but they were 5lbs +. Over the last couple years we're getting multiple 1-3lbs sheephead daily with the occasional 4-6 lbs fish. Good spawns over the last few years maybe? Neat! Pre-...

Re: Montego Bay (Jamaica) fishing charters?
I've always been underwhelmed with the charters I've booked down south. However, the best fishing I had was from Montego Bay. I gave a guy offering snorkel and fishing tours $100 to take me and the wife out for a couple hours before breakfast and we had a blast. We ended up catching most of our fish...

Musky vs. Sheephead and a big walleye
Big fish were active Saturday morning on the Ottawa. Chantal was reeling in what I thought was a very big walleye judging by the lazy heavy fight. It turned out to be a musky munching on a sheephead Chantal had hooked. The sheephead was dead before it even got in the boat. http://i1180.photobucket.c...

Re: The Ottawa River is Feeling Generous
Very nice outings, clients smiles say it all. Noticed the pike this year seem to be on the plump side and a little bigger than the usual overall. I've noticed a rising trend in pike average size for the last 3 years on the river, but for sure this year is special. I had never had any over 10lbs on ...

My boat sees 1000s of catfish a year and I've never seen one like that.

Re: The Ottawa River is Feeling Generous
Nice haul Yannick! Thanks for sharing. We're you fishing down by Rockland or further up the river? Good variety of spots in those pics. The walleye are from Petrie, the musky and pike are from Cumberland, Rockland and Wendover. The bass were caught on a bunch of spots between Rockland and Wendover.

The Ottawa River is Feeling Generous
The grocery store is open with limits of eater size walleye just about a given with every group. Not great for impressive photos, but good consistent action to kill time before the big fish hunts. http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x409/fisherguy33/Camera/1468424860059_zps4ct2i26i.jpg I had a group...
