20 Guage slug guns generally pattern better, have a pile of energy, and don't hurt the shooter nearly as much. If I were to do it all over again, I'd buy the 20...
Shells can be marginally more difficult to find, but not a problem in the better outdoor stores.

Dog Training
Navanfisher My suggestion is to contact the Ottawa Valley Hunting Retriever Club. I personally am a member, but do not train with the club. Some of the club members train every thursday night, and the location bounces around depending on who is interested in training that week. ( www.ovhrc.com ) Clu...

HAH!
Sorry Doug, I didn't know you were a prude about the dun-ness of the middle of you meat. Slicing it thinner would work, but I've done breast off a couple 14lbers this way and had no problems. If you've got birds bigger than these, I'd like to shoot them in the face...

Better than Dougs Recipes Recipe ;)
It's all love Doug  The beauty is in the simplicity of this recipe. Take you breast, clean all the skin from its surface, so you can see the grain of the breast all around. Brush liberally with Olive oil on both sides, and sprinkle with Montreal Steak spice on both sides. Place on BBQ pre-h...

Geese
Dan, the limit on Snow geese is 20 per day, posession 60... In new york state they have a spring snow season with no daily limit, and no plug in the shotgun. The purpose of the spring snow goose hunt is one of conservation, to try to get the numbers under control as they are decimating the tundra. D...

Doug
Hey Doug,
Yeah we're with an "outfitter", but it's just a guy who loved smacking geese and brings out a couple groups a year.
Cost was bout $750 for the three days of hunting, hotel, food, liscence...
The liscence is about 85$ and you need your previous years migratory permit.

Opening weekend of Turkey Season
This is our second year going to Quebec during the turkey opening weekend, and it's always much better than turkey hunting. :first: On Friday we had pouring rain and high winds, which later in the morning turned into sideways drizzle, but the birds were working GREAT! http://users.xplornet.com/~fran...

Keeping warm
If you can keep em outside, the put on a better coat, then they do need more food in order to have the calories needed to keep warm, and lastly a neoprene vest keeps their vitals warm, which keeps them warm and working.
