Thanks everyone for the advice - both on flies and stores. I've shopped at all of them for other fishing tackle and hunting supplies, save for Float, Paddle, Fly. I'll probably start close to home and stop in at GD for my first few and report back how things go on my first outing (can't wait, but sh...

first flies

Well, I've got my first fly rod (8.5', 6 wt.) and have been practicing casting sans fly since turkey season is now over (no luck). I was hoping to pick up half dozen flies max to start fishing with soon. I'd probably target panfish around Dow's lake where I fish with my kids and whatever I can fish ...

That being said, there is probably only about 2-3 weeks of tubing season left (assuming the weather cooperates).
This is off topic, but I'm curious. Never having tubed but wondered about it, why would the tubing season be over in 2-3 weeks?

Cheers,

Sounds like you had a great day with your boys.
We still have most of March yet out here in eastern ontario, but it's really only snowshoes on public land for me. I have yet to see a cottontail on any of the land I hunt.

Enjoy your meal!

Winter goose hunt

Has anyone ever hunted the 1 week winter season for Canadas? This year it's from 27-Feb - 6-Mar. Are you looking for open water during this week?
