Re: More Thievery in Arnprior
Perhaps the solution is that people don't fish there enough! I launched out of Clay Banks on July 2nd and was the only car there at noon! I heard that the smaller launch (where I was going to pick up a friend with my boat) by the airport had had some issues a couple days prior, so I told him to park...

Bass boat fenders
Any recommendations for some bass boat fenders for glass boats? Renting a cottage for a week and as much as I'd love to take the boat out every day, I'd rather keep it in. AKUA makes some nifty fenders but at $36 USD a pop, that will be over $100 CDN for a pair with shipping and tax. Ouch. Any other...

Re: Bass boat vs Deep V?
I've had 3 different aluminum boats before my recent Champion purchase. I loved aluminum. Boats are lighter (i.e. smaller vehicle required to tow it, smaller HP to power it, smaller electric motor to pull it and fewer batteries to maintain), lasted forever, and have a great re-sale value. Also, that...

Re: Hummingbird 798c si purchase
I owned a Humminbird 798ci SI for a couple of years and just sold it last week for $400 (great condition). I have nothing bad to say for the unit. Worked great, economical for a SI. There are only 2 negatives to this unit: 1. Small size, if you want to use split screen - especially if side-imaging i...

Re: Boat parking ideas?
Thanks all for the suggestions. Patio stones / stepping stones sounds like the easiest and lowest cost solution for sure... The boat will be covered but still not super fond of the nose of the boat slanting downward. I actually have a double garage but its way too short for an 18 foot boat (even at ...

Re: Boat parking ideas?
The porous system is called PG45, made by Green Innovations. They carry it (or can order it) at Home Hardware. Model is "PG45 Green", store code 5010-140. From what I heard, its $11.99 per panel (2' x 2').

Boat parking ideas?
So, I bought a boat that will no longer fit in my house in Barrhaven. My previous boat was the same length (about 18') and I had left it in the driveway. The pain was that the driveway had a slope toward the street, so when the boat was parked the bow was way below the stern (if any water got it, it...

Looking for short-term boat storage
Just bought a boat and have to pick it up from the US on March 15th. Looking for indoor storage for about one month, roughly at the time the snow will be gone. Any ideas?

Re: Aluminum boat rivet repair!
If you don't have too many rivets to repair, you can actually consider using pop rivets. No, they are not nearly as good as full rivets but it depends if you have access to on the inside of the boat. I had an 18' aluminum bass boat and my rivets would give right under the gas tank. I would have had ...

Some great suggestions and info. Many thanks. I was also planning to put plastics into ziplocks and bringing into my carry-on to reduce the weight.

Re: Bucketmouth VS Bronzeback
Jesus! What kind of question is that? Its like asking which of your two children do you like better  Nothing like a fat smallie busting your spinnerbait up but nothing takes your breathe away like the sight of a 5+ largemouth jumping out of the water like the hog it is. Impossible question !

Travelling on a plane with tackle
Has anyone travelled (by plane) with their tackle? I'm off to Lake of the Woods for some smallmouth and pike fishing in about a week from now. I just can't bring myself to pack "light" and am bring a decent amount of lures and 4 rods / reels. The concern is the weight limitation for checke...

Re: Someday in Ontario
I agree that any study can literally show anything. For me, personally, seeing is believing. I've been fishing Vermont (that has as many bass fisherman, per capita, as we do) for 20 years and they have had a C&R season that opens around April 15th. I try to do a yearly pilgrimage to the Green Mo...

Re: Fishing in Vermont
You are completely right about Vermont. Its truly a fisherman's dream. Their website and license process is amazing. Moreover, there are almost public (free) beautiful boat launches on all major lakes and ponds. We go down to Vermont every spring for their progressive catch & release bass season...
