Any suggestions on what the best boat launch / lake access is to Lac Poisson Blanc?

Re: what kind of Bass is this?

That's a nice looking, and very clearly, smallmouth... Two ways you distinguish it beyond the stripes/bars vs lines: 1. The easiest is by the depth (or lack of depth) in the notch on its dorsal fin. On a largemouth, the notch goes deeper (all the way to the back / body) vs a smallmouth which is much...

Head Pond - Zone 18 or 15

OK. Opener is 10 days away. Does anyone know if Madawaska Head Pond is Zone 18 or does it fall into Zone 15? On the MNR site, it seems unclear (its right on the border).

Also, anyone know if there is an improvement with the Clay Banks boat launch / vandal situation? Cameras, etc...

Thx.

Re: Claybank / Head Pond

Thanks Blake. Great to hear someone trying to do something about it. It may not be a lot of revenue but every visitor to Clay Banks is probably filling up at Antrim truck stop, buying som bakery goods and may do some shopping locally after fishing (I know I have). Anything to help this situation is ...

Re: Claybank / Head Pond

Thank Smitty,

Will continue to avoid. Too bad the city is not doing something about it. A simple camera could fix this problem.... The revenue they are missing in parking fees would have paid off a simple surveillance camera multiple times by now...

Claybank / Head Pond

Has anyone been at Claybank boat launch recently?

Have the vandals there grown up and hopefully left Arnprior?

Missing that body of water!

Muskrat algae bloom?

Anyone know the status of Muskrat, with respect to the bloom? Has it died off yet?

Re: Christie Lake

Christie Lake can be fun. Lots of average sized largemouth bass with a few good ones. Try the bay at the bay on the northeast tip (as well as the river). In facy, many of the back bays can produce in other shallow water and weedlines. For smallmouth bass, I've found the islands to be hit and miss. D...

Optima charger and batteries

Does anyone know who may stock Optima Digital 1200 battery chargers (12 AMP) and the D31M blue top battery? I.e.:

Re: Cabelas... Whatchya Think?

Its a bit of "Cabelas-Light", as compared to the US stores (I've been to a few). However, I found the lure selection to be pretty diverse and have niche things that I couldn't find easily at Sail or Le Baron (such as 3/4 oz tube jig heads). Staff that I spoke to was knowledgeable and alway...

Ottawa River - La Passe area

Has anyone boated on the Ottawa significantly south of La Passe, ON (6-7 miles south)? There is an island (Sullivan Island), at the south end of which are "McKay Chutes" (rapids, I assume) and "Barrage du Rocher Fendu" (a dam on the QC side). My question is how boatable is this a...

Power Poles vs Boat Tow Harness

Its my first year with a glass bassboat w/ 2 x power poles. I'm about to go on vacation and have normally towed a tube behind my previous boats. However, this time, the ski tow rope harness, which clips on to the eyes on the stern of the boat, interferes with the power poles. I.e., I can clip each s...
