12' bow VS 10' Jon Boat
I have a 12 foot / 53 inch wide boat with a pointed bow that I'm thinking of trading for a 10 foot / 51 inch wide Jon boat. I need a boat that's really light and easy to load in a pickup truck, but I've heard that Jon boats are tippy and could be unsafe in choppy water. Anyone have any experience wi...

Re: Snowshoe Hare
Thanks for all the advice. Finally did one after 30 minutes of following tracks. More than anything, I think it takes a lot of patience. Also, the more you hunt the buggers, the more experience you get. More experience = better hunter!

Snowshoe Hare
I've been out 5-6 times this winter trying to hunt snowshoe hares and rabbits, but no luck. I see their trails and pellets all over the place so I know they're around, but I haven't seen a single hare! I hunt alone, no dog, and I walk quietly through the bush, stopping every few few feet for a look ...

Stevens Model 58B 410 Bolt Action Shotgun
The magazine clip on my 410 is broken. Anyone know where I can get a clip for this 60+ year old shotgun? If not, does anyone know where I can buy a Mossberg or Stevens bolt action 410 or 20 gauge?

LaFrance Lake
Anybody know a way into Lafrance lake? In May I followed a road originating from the poweline to the east side of the lake and came to somebody's cottage so I left. Are there any trails or roads from the north, south or west?

Big Mair Lake Access?
Good day,
Anybody know if there is a road or trail to Big Mair Lake (just south of Mountain Chute Dam on the Madawaska). The only road leading to the lake has a barrier and No Trespass sign. Any other way in?

Re: Closs Lake
Thanks guys,
There is a trail from the powerline to the northern part of the lake. There is a hunt camp with a sign that says 'Clyde Lake Camp #13'. It looks to be on crown land but I wasnt sure. According to the map you provided it sure looks like crown land!

Is there public access to Closs Lake (1 km N of Clyde Lake). There is a Hydro trail near the lake but I don't know if the area around the lake is crown land.

Clyde Lake Hunt Club - Crown Land?
There is a hunt camp (tin shack) near the hydro road about 200 meters east of Closs Lake (about 1200 meters NW of Clyde Lake) which is built on Crown Land. The sign on the camp says 'Clyde Lake Hunt Club Camp #13'. Anyone have any info on this? Is it some kind of crown concession, or is it an illega...

Hand Winch
I'm looking for a hand winch/cable puller in case I ever get stuck in the middle of nowhere with my Tacoma. The ones they sell in the hardware stores, Home Depot, Canadian Tire etc look pretty flimsy. Does anyone know where they sell good quality hand winches in the 3 or 4-ton range in the Ottawa ar...

Hurds Lake Boat Launch
Good day. I've been trying to find a launch site on Hurds lake (south of Renfrew) for my 14' tinny. Anyone know where I can find a ramp or dirt/gravel site?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hummingbird Fish Finder Problems
My new fish finder stopped working properly after my second time on the water. I've tried to programme it several times but the screen only displays the water temperature. The cable is still connected and there is nothing obstructing the sonar. Any suggestions?
