Bass Spawn

With the weather and water levels, I'm stumped as to what stage of the spawn (pre, spawn or post) the smallies are at near Kingston (for instance Wolfe island). I would appreciate members' reasonable predictions or actual experience with this?

Can someone ID this?

This was found in the stomach content of a pike caught near Algonquin Park. Sorry I don't have an object for point of reference or scale. It appears to be some segmentation and black "tentacles". Can someone identify this?

Looking for a Eagle Journey GPS Antenna

I have a 2000 Eagle Journey GPS Unit (monochrome . . . yes, old school). Recently, I cannot get a fix on any satellites. I have checked connections and also wire routing between the antenna and the GPS unit and they all look fine. I'm thinking I probably have a defective antenna but want to troubles...

Re: Double Uni-knot reliable?

Thanks guys. I also lubricate the knot prior to cinching. I've generally used ~7' flouro leader but will try the shortened leader (~3'). I have weighed the shortened leader option in the past recognizing that the shorter leader will reach maximum stretch quicker relative to the (little more forgivin...

Double Uni-knot reliable?

I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same love / hate relationship with the double uni-knot for splicing superline to flouro. The hate part is not knowing if every time I fire a cast and the knot gets banged around thru the guides, it's not weakening the knot. While the knot has held up most times ...

I fished this event last year as a Ranger owner. The event was well run and organized (great signage for folks arriving in light of the extreme fog), top of the line weigh in equipment (from the Renegade Bass circuit), good competition and comradery, prizes for not only those who placed but for the ...

A number of years back I fished a 2 day bass tournament on Rice Lake. On the 1st day, I nailed a bass on a jig-n-pig off a dock but the fish broke off before I had a good look at her. The next day, I slammed a bass off the same dock and was able to quickly put the 2 lber in the livewell. A couple of...

OBW should continue to be trusted and respected. If one is looking for consistent perfection, you're not going to find it anywhere so don't use that yard stick. Excellence and trying their best, that's more reasonable and that has been my experience with OBW. I'm sure that there are plenty of boat o...

Looking Water Level Update - Ottawa River

I'd like some advice from the experienced folks here if the Ottawa River is still below its summer water level. Earlier this fishing season there was chatter about low water levels on the Ottawa. I'd like to launch out of Wendover this weekend and fishing that area and would perfer to not have any s...

You should be fine. I have been launching there since April and I was there last Sunday. I would say that the water has risen about a foot past normal level. The swampy coves are not as skinny
