Re: Roller vs Bunk trailer

Mine has bunks which are great for loading and unloading solo ,, especially on steep ramps. My Inlaws old boat was a 19ft crestliner deepwater rig.. it had originally rollers only ( not even load guides) and what a pia loading solo with any significant grade. 1 roll back and scramble to save and was...

Re: Downrigger advice

I usually run about 30ft back when under 40ft down. When deeper i start to bring in tighter.. also i watch the cannon ball,, if i start to see arches approaching or leaving the ball ,, i try pulling in tighter.

Re: Yesterday on the Upper Rideau

Looks like a nice outing,, whether catching or not.. Used to get some nice jumbos yrs ago as a kid through the ice (along with the odd ling and pike), about half way between the Rose Bay point and the 1st island through the ice (mind you I lived on Rose Bay so it was easy to get to on those really c...

I had left my next standing up,, probably had 10lbs of flies on it to shake off when i put the net away. The water is still pretty cold @ 53'F don't know wha...

You are probably fishing too deep. On opener weekend we fished our normal depths and got skunked, on the Sunday we flat lined in 25-30 FOW (with baits running about 10-15 ft down) and got 6 in couple of hrs. The surface temp was still only 54. It likely hasn't warmed up much yet to drive them deeper.

Blue and silver Williams for me (Dartees in particular) and suttons.

As far as length, depends on the lake (feed stock)
