Re: using a Hydro One corridor

Hydro will have an easement that allows them to install and access their equipment on private property; this easement does not grant public access or use. I don't think hydro owns any property (specific to transmission lines, not sub-stations,etc); while they are allowed to cross private and Crown l...

Re: Sunday morning Eyes

I am interested in your opinion on the Elite5 CHIRP. I used to have an Elite 5 DSI (came with my boat) and hated it. I fish a lot of deeper water and it was no good that. I sold the DSI to a member here and replaced it with an Elite 5 (traditional sonar) and it works fine. Since then I have been tar...

Re: Lake Trout Fishing From Canoe

I did this on Cannisbay; you are trolling very slow so fancy equipment is probably not needed. I used a spinning reel (walleye rod) with a small size lake troll (not the big Christmas trees, the ones about 18 - 24 inches long). I put two or three bell sinkers at the front on the swivel... no problem...

Re: Solo boat launching?

I launch my 19' inboard solo with no help. Remove winch and attach your bow line to somewhere on your trailer where there is enough slack for the boat to float off (basically the length of the boat) - I just tie it to the winch. Back in slowly until boat floats off; slowly drive forward and let the ...

Re: Info for petit lac des cedres?

bradford2, that is a big help! Thank you! I am not really into bass fishing, trout is my game. Our hosts have a 14'r with a 15; apparently my boat is way too big to cross into the bigger cedar lake. Latest report is that beavers are messing up the creek joining the two lakes, you have to drag a cano...

Info for petit lac des cedres?

My family has been invited to a cottage on Petit lac des Cedres near Messines. I am looking for any information to help with boat launching and lake depth info, etc Does anyone have bathymetric information for this lake? I am mostly concerned about shoals... Is there access to Big Cedar? I know ther...

Re: Ice Hut Security

I don't have any comment about the amount of theft where you are... but I suggest making the lock the weakest point of entry. A lot easier to replace a cheapo luggage lock than repair a destroyed door, window or wall. I also hope that a cheap lock might indicate that there really isn't anything of v...

Site problems / suggestion

I get a lot of "rob has max connections... bla bla bla" errors - sucks when you spend time writing a post and then loose it. Anyone else get this? This started since the site was restored a few months ago. I loose a lot of posts and just don't bother to type them in again. I also have prob...

I bought a package of these from Brofasco in Nepean. If anyone in the Ottawa area needs some I have extra.

Re: Pressure Treated Wood - NEW PRODUCT

Thanks for the info!

An option you might also consider is putting a layer of tape on the aluminum where the wood contacts (tuck tape for example) - cheap to do and will help reduce or eliminate the contact area.

Re: Bert's rod holders and tracks - where?

Do the cannons ratchet? Not completely necessary but I like the design that when you grab a rod the holder will ratchet up to allow you to lift the rod out rather than reaching out and over.
I will check out the cannon line again.
