Re: new boat advice...kind of

If you really want to get out on the ottawa a twelve footer will be "iffy" at best. You will have to pick your days, and even then you will be confined to back bays during day time hours. On weekends during the day its borderline suicide! Learn your winds and how they effect the river. A 1...

We've both managed to clear our scedules for the long weekend and are hoping for a bit of a get away and rekindle. Just wondering if anyone here co...

Re: First time fishing Quebec - Lac Macdonald

There is no real public launch. The beach on the north end is a launch spot but you need a key from a resident to open the gate , and make sure they are with you or you will get hassled. It is a super soft beach where the sand is ankle deep as soon as u step in it. You need a real 4x4 with real tire...

Re: First time fishing Quebec - Lac Macdonald

Only fished the lake once in the local derby and finished 2nd. It is a pretty easy lake to fish, fish typical structure like humps ( they were marked), the main lake is littered with cabbage beds, hop from bed to bed and you'll find them. head to the river that flows into little lake and fish where ...

Ottawa river Muskie Factory

Last fall my girl friend and my parents decided to get me a guided day of muskie fishing on the water of my choice with the guide of my choice. Well location would be obvious, the big O!!! Now to find a guide. After a few emails with different people i quickly realized John Anderson from the Ottawa ...

Re: Baitcaster combo 101 advice needed.

I went through this exact process with my girlfriend last year when she wanted to make the jump to a baitcaster. Brought her to see Ed, he figured out which "handed" she was and set her up with a great combo in her price range. She had a great experience and loves her Lew's/Compre combo. E...

If you have your heart set on using soft plastics to jig, check out Storm soft plastics. I use the shads for vertical jigging big pike on softwater, don;t see why they wouldnt work on the ice. They have a quite a few bluegill/pumpkinseed patterns too, not sure if any of them don't have a lip though.

I agree with yannicks post. They do have a fetish for big orange or chart pimples. I've heard alot of people do well on airplane jigs, myself ive never used one for long. Always go back to my pimple or buckshots when jigging, my convidence lures.

As great as fluro is, it is not fool proof. Just ask the muskie i lost at the hole this weekend   Pretty sure the ice cut the line, not the fish itself, and it was 30lbs test, fish was prob 10-12.

On the bright side though, this is what keeps us goin back isn't it!!!!
