I wouldnt think a hydro foil will help much unless you're just not getting the motor up high enough to have the cavitation plate out of the water. Buy a good quality one. You'll be less tempted to launch it into the water. I think the better quaility ones tend to bird nest less. I find the Shimano Castaics to to nest far less than any reel I've ever used.

They were biting on the Lower Rideau yesterday also. Was my first time ever targeting them and it took a while to find them but once we did it was really non stop action for a few hrs. My daughter caught a couple that were 13". We"ll be having a feed of them tonight.
