Re: Ottawa River report

Yes he was. Both pike were very fat and healthy. This one was successfully released. The smaller one unfortunately got its gill nicked when getting unhooked. I didn't have jaw spreaders and by the time I got it unhooked it had died. So it is on the super table at my buddy. Chris' house tonight.

Ottawa River report

Went out for an afternoon of fishing with my buddy Gil Harrigan at his shack. The day started out rather ominously as when we stopped at Pete's Bait Shop in Wendover, Gil cut a corner heading out on the river and hit a soft spot in 2WD..... result: a stuck Tacoma. the 4X4 on my antique F150 doesn't ...

Re: open seat tomorrow (sep 23) Wendover

Nobody took me up on this so I didn't have much motivation to get out there early. Headed out at about 3 pm. Headed up river a boot near Rockland. Wind had them pushed up on the south side of the river. First one I marked I caught and ate for supper. Missed one other and headed back. Maybe next time...

Re: Trout Farms near Ottawa?

You're looking at the wrong place then. Because where they are now, you can't see it from the road. Long driveway off the road.

Check with Bostonwhaler. He is always doing tournaments here and there. Most are independent but some are Petawawa Bass Masters.

Re: Trout Farms near Ottawa?

Marc, There is OPEONGO MOUNTAIN TROUT FARM near Eganville and PURE SPRINGS TROUT FARM between Kingston and Belleville. Hope this helps. Opeongo has been closed for a long time now Opeongo is not closed. They moved down the highway a bit. If you call ahead you can make an appointment. I took my kids...

Re: At what age?

As soon as both my kids could cast a rubber fish with a thumb button spinner reel, they came pan fishing. By age 4 my son was picking out his own jigs, worming his own hooks and out fishing me for bass in the lilly pads hahah

Re: Muskies trying to jump new dam in WI.

That's a great video. Something about it bothers me though. IS there some spawning necessity that is driving them to want to cross that dam? Or are they just looking for new feeding grounds? Man there were a lot of giants in there.

I got one from sears for Chrismtas under the brand "northwest territories" that's well under $200 too. It's an 8' X 10 ft with two holes, two doors and two windows. A bit cumbersome to set up, but it's BIG!

Fishing with kids is awesome. ON my way to Muskrat this weekend, my 4 yr old, Owyn, grabs my fishing regs book and starts flipping through it. He spots a picture of someone holding about a 40 lb muskie and promptly tells me he wants to catch "dat one". So, I told him there weren't any musk...
