Re: telescopic rod or 5' UL for small creek trout
I've used a 5'6 ultralight Fenwick HMG in the past when they were still made in Taiwan, but then about 10 years ago after the HMG "wore out" I switched to a new old stock 5'6 light action Berkley Imperial that I bought from an eBay seller for about 30 bucks. I like the Berkley; it's made i...

Re: telescopic rod or 5' UL for small creek trout
Hi levitch,
I've been fishing small, brushy brook trout streams for a long time now, but haven't used a telescopic rod or a 1 piece 5 ft rod. I use 2-piece 5'6 ft ultralight and light rods, and find they're pretty manageable for bushwhacking when broken down.

Re: Bonnechere River
Nice pike! There's a bridge with parking spots and a rough boat launch further upstream, where Turners and Paugh Lake Roads intersect - have caught some nice LMB with shallow diving crankbaits in the river upstream of the launch.

Well done! I think those would've been stocked back in 2018, judging by their size.

Re: fave ice fishing lures
Hi levitch, It would help to know what kind of fish that you're planning on going after; sometimes different kinds of fish like different kinds of lures. That said, I currently ice fish for walleye, brook trout and splake, and the only lure that I've been using for them for the past 20+ years is an ...

Late summer splake fishing, 2019 edition
Went to one of the Madawaska/Whitney back lakes this past Saturday. The photos don’t really show it, but the wind was quite strong at times, making it an effort to oar the Sportspal and maintain a consistent troll. My fishing partner and I managed to catch 9 splake that had been stocked in 2018, ran...
