Re: Attention pontoon boat fisher people

I fish out my fathers pontoon on the st Lawrence quite often, many drift and drag for smallies. You want to max out on the trolling motor for sure. But JSDX summed it up pretty well, its like a living room on the water. So Much Space. You can stay pretty dry during the rain and in the later months c...

Re: Plastic bunk wrap

I was in the same boat as you and decided to purchase caliber bunk wrap (2x6) from fish'n'tech. Happy I did, looks good and Very easy to install. Havnt used the boat a whole lot this year so hard to say if it makes a huge difference loading the boat. But even if there is no difference i'm still happ...

Re: Motor dies at low idle, no choke and low speed

Sounds like a carb issue, run premium gas and get some sea foam, dump the can in your gas tank and run around the lake full out for a while it should help it, it worked wonders for me. if not get a carb tune-up,

Re: Helix 7 DI/GPS cutting out when I start engine

I had a similar issue with a different hummingbird unit. Turns out my battery was getting old, the power used to start my motor wasn't enough to keep the unit on at the same time. I changed the battery and the problem went away. You could put a multi-meter on the battery connections and see how much...

Re: Bearing upgrades - your thoughts appreciated

Some people just don't get the tinkering and mods. It's not for everyone and that fine. Almost everyone has some passion that others don't understand. Cars, Scotches, pens, watches, computers, electronics, sports or music memorabilia, this list can go on and on. Sadly people love to tell other peopl...

Re: Bearing upgrades - your thoughts appreciated

I soak the bearings for a total of 3 days in acetone, I've tried an ultrasonic cleaner, and after 1hr in the cleaner, there was still grease residue in the bearings. X2 to soaking in acetone. I bought the ultrasonic cleaner but went back to soaking in acetone for a few days, I have the sitting in l...

Re: Bearing upgrades - your thoughts appreciated

I’ll soak in acetone for 48+ hours. And shake the jar every so often. I’ll even change the acetone half way through. I’ve also removed the bearing shields to help get the grease out. I use boca lightning oil for bearings and penn reel grease for everything else. Pretty easy to find and order. But I’...

Re: Bearing upgrades - your thoughts appreciated

I add bearings where there are bushings, but for the rest of reel i use stock bearing most of the time. I make sure the reel gets a good cleaning yearly and if a problems occur i usually inspect and fix it right away When i did upgrade i went with ABEC-5's. And stainless, a lot cheaper. I just could...

Re: Off-season gear-up: looking for advice on baitcasters

Personally i would go with spinning for drop shot and lighter lures, you could cast them a lot further As for baitcasting gear, I'm a big fan of Daiwa, especially with their new SV spools, they really limit the backlashes, SV103 is a solid reel, same with the zillion SV and I've heard great thing ab...

Fall Crappie Fising

Just looking for some Fall Crappie tips. My spring spots are too shallow. I don't need a lake or spots. Just what type of areas (rocks or type of weeds), what depth range to look for and what water temps.

Thanks in Advance
