Re: noisy reel when casting
Check your spool drag pins. It is very common for these to make a racket and chatter on a cast. They wear and get dirty. Clean and very very lightly, like put a spot on a q-tip and run it around the inside of the brake ring. this will clean it and lube it a bit for the brakes. Do it light enough an...

Re: It's walleye time!
My care for fish starts before hooking them since I use an equipment very sensitive and tuned in for fast hookups ( so that the fish won’t have the time to swallow) with strong lines and thick leaders to prevent accidental breaking or being cut of ( which will leave the fish with a lure in his mout...

I don’t know what to say/write, so many memories resurfaced while reading this thread. Some good ones, some less desirable ones, some that made me laugh out loud while at work. Throw in Dano, Jimmy and a few others to the mix, and we’re back in business folks!    RJ, don’t you d...

Re: Curado K vs Tatula SV
SV fanatic here, I usually have my magdial set on 4, or 5 at the most, and lots of side to side play only because I enjoy thumbing my spool when casting. The video you watched is what Daiwa recommends as to where you basically can’t fu$k it up, for the lack of a better term, when casting. It’s all a...

Re: Line breaks 2018 - where was I going wrong
Your knot is the issue, palomar on fluoro is usually a big no no.
Been using the Shaw Grigsby knot for fluoro for a few years now with great success.
I don't think the knot has an actual name, but google Shaw Grigsby fluoro knot and you'll easily find the info needed.

Re: Boat Insurance
Hey Lape, What were the differences in coverage options between port side and north star? Maybe I missed something when it was explained to me but they both offered me $5000 in content and $5000 in towing and $1500 in boat rental. I imagine you probably have more than $5000 which of content. I unfo...

Great reply Rick! Let’s not kill this one solely based off a generalized perception of what’s “acceptable”, like you said, there’s many other sites and forums dedicated to this subject alone. Drop, if you need any info in regards to ordering parts or tools, hit me up on FB or via PM here, otherwise,...

Re: Bearing upgrades - your thoughts appreciated
I just watched a YouTube video with buddy changing out spool bearings. It looks rather straight forward. Also during my YouTube research I saw a tool used to remove the retaining pin on the spool shaft. All buddy used was a pair of pliers. My concern would be damage to the shaft and pin using the p...
