Re: Line breaks 2018 - where was I going wrong
So when I’m pulling my knot tight just snug it up? Not pull it real tight? And what like a 1/4” tag or so? Just pull the knot nice and snug. A 1/4in. tag is perfect. Fluorocarbon is non-stretch by nature, the days of tying the knot then taking three wraps of line around your left and right hand and...

Re: Line breaks 2018 - where was I going wrong
The problem most likely is how you are tying the knot. I use 7 & 10lb Sufix Castable Invisiline Fluorocarbon Fishing Line as a leader on 20lb Power Pro braid. I use this to fish Neko Rigs, Wacky Rigs etc. I don’t have knot failures. When you tie the Palomar Knot the first important thing to do i...

Re: Bennett's Bait and Tackle
Not sure what’s going on either. I noticed the Bennetts banner on FH was dead for quite a while, now I don’t even see the banner anymore. As you said the phone number is no longer in service and if you try to access their website you will find it is gone. I know they are/were a sponsor of RJnBirdees...

Re: leaders: yes or no?
For the most part I don’t use wire leaders, however, there are a few exceptions. I find those commercially made plastic coated monstrosities far too heavy, stiff and long. Many, many years ago I started to make my own leaders, and over time my leaders have shrunk to about 2in. long, no more. I use 1...

10% tarriff
Unless something changes, Canada will impose a 10% tariff on US made boats on July 1, 2018.

Re: On Board Charger 2 bank
For the record.... Several years ago I went to Paddletales and purchased a Minn Kota Maxxum 70lb 24v trolling motor and a Minn Kota MK-315D on board battery charger. 3 banks, 5 amps per bank. I friggin' love this charger, wouldn't change a thing. I come home, plug it in and I have 3 green LED's in t...

Apparently I'm the only person in the known universe that has had absolutely NO luck at all with a chatterbait.

Re: New techniques you want to try
For quite a few years now I have been trying to add a new technique/presentation each year. Last year was the Neko Rig. This year it will be a swim jig. I had rediscovered crankbaits/jerkbaits/diver/deep divers for the first time several years ago and have been slowly updating my hardbaits yearly fo...

Re: Advice on fishing at Newboro Lake
As RJ has pointed out the Navionics App is a handy tool to study the lake. Although somewhat out of vogue anymore, you can still purchase paper map sets at most lock stations along the Rideau System. There are two fish sanctuaries with NO FISHING allowed on Newboro that you need to be aware of. For ...

Is there a reason that these GTG's always happen during the week?
