Re: Missed musky
The water is cooling down so they seem to be riding higher in the water column. I usually target about 2 ft under the surface. Of course this depends on the depth of the water and how it relates to the structure.

Re: Missed musky
So close! Keep on trying.... I was out yesterday using an extra large sucker.... After about twenty minutes of watching the bobber wandering and meandering it just starts bobbing erratically and goes on a 20 yard tear. I never saw it but I am pretty sure that a toothy critter was snapping at it. May...

Re: rideau river question
Bumped into two guys who weer trolling from the dam back down towards Manotick and back; They'd caught a number of Pike and Musky in the early evenings over the past two weeks.

Re: What to do with a BP gift card?
I'm pretty sure they will have a free shipping event in December or January. They also had one this spring.
Ordering online with them is a great way to get things the local stores don't stock.

Re: Catfish have spines?
All catfish have spines in each pectoral fin and the dorsal fin. They are not always obvious but if you saw the dorsal and pectoral fins sticking out they were probably being flexed. They are actually part of the fin so it's not like you see a bony protrusion. Bigger catfish are easier to handle the...

Long Island, below Locks
Is it just me or if the fishing down at the bottom of the Locks slow? I've been down there 4 times this year and not as much as a nibble. I've tried various presentations but no signs of bass/pike/Musky/walleye. I've talked to half dozen others while fishing there and they say the same. Has anyone h...

My First Common Carp
Hi All, I decided to mix things up this evening. I went out for Carp instead of Catfish this evening. I was a bit hesitant to give up a chance to at least get some fish today; I was not sure I wanted to be skunked this evening. But I gave it a try and it paid off. A poster here had posted a troll ab...
