Cool I met some kayakers this weekend who were fishing between the first chute and the Ottawa but they were mostly getting catfish. Some Bass and Pike though.

Re: Kid friendly fishing spots?

Ecolands park sounds like it would fit the bill. Last time I was there, there was small fishing dock at the park. Dowslake you can piknik near the pond (down from the arboretum) and bring your own activities and fish. Checkout these spots as well: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1O27JxCuA...

Re: Sight Fishing for Mooneye

Thanks Guys! Nyarlathotep, that's originally what drew me to fish-hawk. With the (what seems to be) facebook fishing revolution (great becuase its easy) there seems to me be less colour commentary on fishing technique and backdrops. Everything seems to be taking a back seat to quick picks and short ...

Sight Fishing for Mooneye

I went to one of my regular fishing spots last night. Its usually good for channels and walleye but being at the end of spillway you find just about anything there from Musky to Carp. Every now and again the mooneye run in. Last night there was a massive hatch going on, so I reset my expectations. T...

Sorry, the dog days of summer seems to be affecting many. Try it again in the early fall when things cool down.

Re: what kind of Bass is this?

Like the others have indicated colouration and patterns is a secondary characteristic for identification of basses. The extension of the jaw at or behind the jaw is a key primary characteristic.
