Re: Some nice Ottawa River eaters!
  Thanks guys! I find the walleye upstream from shirleys bay are a lot cleaner than the ones below Victoria island, i wouldn't recommend eating them often to anyone but its been a while since i had a walleye fry, they tasted great! They are nice looking fish. I view fishing the Ottawa Riv...

Re: Anyone Buying The Vexilar / Navionics?
Its pretty cool but for my boat I've been thinking of replacing my acting up unit with a Humminbird Helix. It's kind of ironic, the Helix is better all the way around and about $200 cheaper than my old one was.
One of those little units would be awesome for the Kayak I'm planning on buying though.

Re: Fluorocarbon and Fluorocarbon leader material??
I've been using Seaguar Invizx 15lb and 20lb as my leader for fishing lake trout for the last 3 years and I've only once ever had a break and it was my fault to begin with. I had caught a few trout on that jig and never bothered to check for damage and retie the jig. Actual leader floro might be bet...

The Chandlery Online
367 Poulin Ave.
Not far from Lincoln Heights. I bought some carpet there to match the existing carpet on my boat.

Seen lots of guys customize old tin v-hulls and john boats. Just google it and look at images and you'll see all sorts of stuff from pretty basic work, to some pretty elaborate stuff.

Re: Looking for lake with Canoe rentals
On the Big Rideau you can rent canoes at Murphy's Point, on highway 7 past Perth are Silver Lake and Sarbot lake with provincial parks I'm pretty sure you can rent canoes at both as well.
You're looking at about an hour's drive out of Ottawa, but they are all nice lakes.

Re: Tough Day in the Bay
I'm stil waiting on parts for my engine to be repaired, so I rented a boat yesterday. With so few weekends left, we figured what the hell, so me, my wife and son headed out. I was going jigging for lake trout but not overly hopeful since the boat, a bow rider, had no electronics or trolling motor. I...

Re: Big Rideau lake trout report?
Summer has been great so far. Only got skunked once and upon reflection it was more mistakes I made than anything else. Tore up the lower end of my boat, still not repaired, haven't been on the water since the Friday before the civic holliday....this weekend looks like it might be a bust too.... ......

Re: trolling deep for lakers
Started out great, caught a couple of nice sized lakers in a couple hours of fishing, then on my way back I was fishing for bass since I caught my trout so fast... ...then I hit a rock. Think I gouged the bottom of the boat, snapped the swivel bracket, banged the snot out of my lower unit, tore chun...

Re: trolling deep for lakers
I've only ever caught one lake trout trolling with a hard core trout fisherman, and I had gone fishing with him several times on long, long days to catch that one fish. I absolutely hated fishing for lake trout and thought it was the most boring thing in the world. I bought a boat 3 years ago, I wen...

Re: Requirements of a storage shed for most boats
Personally I think the minimum depth would have to be 25' considering the length of the average boat and trailer, 30' would probably be ideal, being a double garage would be it, though that's for the kinds of boats I'd be towing. Unless the property itself is on or right by a lake and is likely to a...

Honestly I don't know what's worse. The way some of these companies advertise with hoaxes, or just how many people fall for them.
