Re: Ticks

I pulled a deer tick off me last fall near Smithsfalls not too far from mp. The farm I was at is just full of them now, to the point that if you walk in anywhere away from the house they'll be crawling on ya. I used a tick key from lee valley, work amazing and is only 10 bucks. I'm hearing of more p...

Re: Fishing Rideau River help

I think you might be better off putting in farther up the Rideau, kars is only 15 minutes away from barrhaven. To my understanding the water levels stay the same all year in that stretch of the river. In the fall the stretch running along barrhaven is lowered to half the water level. I'm not sure if...

Re: Big Rideau Hoggs Bay??

The bay is for paddlers only, I have checked with the park staff at Murphys Point. On the bright side, the lake right there is great for smallmouths. Work your way out from the shore line and you'll find them suspended somewhere. I don't fish for them but lots of people out there for lakers too. Kee...

Re: Ottawa River Catfish with Kids

The Deschene Rapids park along the Ottawa River Parkway is a good bet like Pints said. I used to fish there for cats when the water is high and lots of small guys but I have caught them over the 5 lbs mark. You will get the odd panfish and walleye too. Kevin
