Lake erie is right up there for sizes and also the Grand river is excellent certain times of the year especially right now.

When I was a kid growing up I use to ice fish almost everyday down on Jordan Harbour/Lake Ontario and use to catch blue perch. I caught a few of them and thought that was very interesting as I also heard about the pike and walleye being blue sometimes.

When bolting down the mount make sure you use nylock nuts so that they do not vibrate loose later. Do not forget to use stainless,don`t want rust stains.

What I do to my rods is that I attach a mono/floro tippet to the PP using a blood knot or using a small barrel swivel.The tippet length is from 12-18" in length.I use just 8-12 lbs. test mono as the tippets and may want to check them often for knicks and it is alot easier to snap off than tryin...

Drill a hole one inch inch front and one inch behind of the eyelet and move the eyelet to either hole and give that a try.Adjust to the other hole while on the water and just compare notes as to which one runs better. That is what I have done to my homemade job like yours.

I love using the braided stuff(fireline,pp) on most of my spinning reels.
