Back at the laker grind

I had made it a mission since moving back closer to Smith's falls that I would take my wife and kids out and try to get them hooked on laker fishing. Since opening day I have been out a lot but only a few hours at a time. I have been moving up and down that lake looking and learning the lay of the l...

Laker action is hot hot hot

Scored a last minute day off today and decided to hit the old lake trout stomping grounds. Things were looking good as I was jigging and 3 drops and 2 fish. Spent the morning checking areas I don't normally fish. Needless to say I found some nice fish. Put 10 in the boat and lost a few... Odd day th...

Opening day laker action

Surprised that no one else has posted. There were boats a plenty out on opening morning. Headed out first thing Saturday am. I was on a mission to convince my mom and dad that old school trolling with cowbells was no fun. Jigging was on tap and both of whom have never tried it. First drop of the mor...

Re: Lower Rideau Lake

I was out yesterday. There was a solid 16-20 inches right out from the launch. Trucks, cars, shacks out all over. There was open water 10 feet out from the ramp so stay to the left. The shore line heading towards the easterseals camp had several iffy spots with some big cracks. I was in 12 fow right o...

Lower Rideau Lake

Well just had a awesome weekend out on the ice and thought I would share. Packed up the gear Saturday morning and took my youngest daughter and 2 nieces out for some fun before RJ'S derby. Long story short we found no perch or crappies...shocker.... but did manage a few gators... one of which was he...

Re: Lower Rideau Lake access

A atv went into the lake at the pressure Crack there a few weeks back.
May still be some soft ice there. I've been using the yacht club launch with no issues. Trucks and suv's all over out there..

Big Rideau ice report... beveridges locks

Was out today and there was around 5 inches of black and 2 inches of white ice. There is a bit of a shelf just out from the locks at the end of the rock wall. The village is starting to form with 3 huts out. Marty and I set up shop and hammered the perch all day with the odd hammer handle mixed in. ...

Re: Renegade Bass The Opens

I wasn't gonna say anything but.... I was chomping at the bit to sign up for this. I have wanted to fish a tournmant where I wasn't gonna compete with guys running 250 hp motors and feel totally out of place. This series is a great idea in my opinion and personally have no issue paying for a members...

Re: Black crappie woes

Expert I'm not... but I would say that you are not late. I will be heading back out again several times this week(hopefully) by looking at the warm Temps for this week I'm sure things will be rocking again. I have been using some bright coloured 1/32 jig heads with berkley 3 inch power minnows. No f...

Saturday crappie beat down

Was able to get back out on the water Saturday with my son and Marty. We pick up where we left off last weekend with boating another 150 +fish. First kick at the can for crappies for my son and with in 30 minutes he managed a nice 13 inch slab. Young lad made it look easy as we had double and triple...

Friday afternoon crappies

Had a chance to leave early today so I managed to get out for a quick crappie outing. Cooler water temps and a strong wind seemed to slow the bite down compared to last weekend with Marty. Did manage to boat around 30 but the sizes seemed to be a mixed bag again. Did get 10-15 in the 12 inch range a...

Re: Shore Fishing Walleye on the St. Lawrence?

you may want to make the 10 minute drive down to cardinal... drive behind the legion and follow the little road to the end.. you can fish all kinds of places from shore there or go down the galop canal road and you will find more places there too
you will have much better luck there
