Re: How to catch carp fish using lures/other baits
Your post inspired me to target a carp - once boat launches and marinas provide waterway access amidst Covid. Haven't caught one of those hogs since I was a kid when fishing consisted of a worm on hook. I remember it being like I was snagged on a log. Thinking I'll throw some niblets in a zip lock a...

Re: Fishing during outbreak?
Premier Ford indicated there will be an announcement this Thursday regarding additional businesses that will be permitted to open. Keeping fingers crossed that it is for marinas to open (with prudent safety measures of course). Here's hopin'!

Re: Fishing during outbreak?
Ontario announced that marinas can open May 4th to servicd boats and prepare for operations but can not open to the public. Gives me reason for optimism that getting on the water for some socially distanced fishing. Here's hoping... Stay safe. Howie Global News, Fri 1 May: ..."Marinas may also ...

Re: South Nation River tips
I've only been into the mouth of the S Nation where it meets the Ottawa R by Wendover. My buddy swore it offered good late fall muskie fishing. Another friend shared tales of good walleye fishing up river. Couldn't say where. Reminds me: A good buddy of mine (who is a much more attentive fisher than...

Re: Fishing during outbreak?
I suppose I view the activity much as you do, FishingFreak13. The 5% abuser folks you highlight probably apply to nearly any activity within our existence these days. (I was seriously contemplating Gordie Howe'ing some twat in the yap at the grocery store last week if he proceeded to reach past me t...

Re: Thoughts on motor extended product protection
Thanks for the input/opinion.
Funny as to me my 115 hp is a "big outboard".
Leaning toward having the piece of mind justifies the expense.
Thanks again.

Re: Great opener for pike on the Ottawa
Great Post. Wish my Pike Opener on the lower Ottawa yielded pike half the size of those Hotel Tango. Nice fish! Still was a great to be back on the water but of my 8 pike (plus two walleye) all were fairly little. Exact same spinner bait as your picture LOL. Thanks for sharing the tip for the spinne...

Thoughts on motor extended product protection
Fish-hawk folks, Was wondering what thoughts are on there on extended product protection for an outboard motor. Never had a new motor before purchase of a 115 hp Mercury Four stroke in summer 2014. Yesterday I received a Mercury Product Protection offer basically extending the warranty for additiona...

Re: Shallow Water Walleye
Hey, Was interested to catch your post. I was enjoying some time on the mighty Ottawa Friday and Monday of this beautiful May Long-weekend. Was casting for pike in a few places near Petrie Island. Amidst quite a few (smallish) pike, I was surprized to catch two walleye on my spinner bait in two feet...

Re: Muskie fishing question
Big R, After 7-8 days targeting muskie and not seeing a fish, I was about to forego muskie hunting for all time and content myself with fishing for less elusive species. I then landed a 50" (posted picture on Fish-hawk) toothy beast! What a thrill! Gotta say, it was worth the days "washing...

Re: First Muskie
Thanks for the encouraging comments gents. Yeah - I'm hooked! Can now claim to be a muskie hunter. What a thrill to say the least. I'd pretty much started to get discouraged. Sure a lot of casts and trolling miles before getting a chance to finally have a look at one of these beasts! What a way to e...

First Muskie
Took a vacation day for one last fishing outing before tucking the boat in for the winter. Had a few long days trying for Muskie without any luck so what a thrill it was to land this 50" beast on the Ottawa.
